@Melkor91

The Beatles' music, Carlsens chessgames and Messi playing football are the only arguments proving that the Universe cannot be regarded a complete failure

@Linahuaa It not exactly sucks, but as long you like Beatles, it‘s good anyway. A Hard Days Night is of course a masterpiece of an album as well.

Modern music somehow makes me depressed because it sounds like it's made by depressed people who always sing about depressing things. I love early Beatles stuff because it's usually in major key, fast tempo, with ample youthfulness, and simple lyrics full of positivity eg "Holding your hand makes me high yeah yeah" "I wanna hold you tight yeah yeah" or "She loves you yeah yeah" Man, 60s-90s West was sooo full of optimism when you think about it... My favourite pop album is A Hard Day's Night btw, cuz I'm hipster. Sgt Pepper sucks.

@FCB_Argentine Is this statement not more of a testiment, that Messi is so good that in fact others have to adapt to him - which is not easy. Especially, if you have an ego and an Individualistic (and flawed) approach to football like many worldclass Players do?

@Dom_L_ @Slackonbothsydz Maybe, but why does the reception of a player always seem to be dependent on the perception of the people and not soley on his quality in an analytical sense?

@Slackonbothsydz He just had a very unusual type and style of play. They way he ran, the way he dribbled, etc. It just made it easier not to see him as a super technical player.

@BCNOgi The most interesting thing about KP Boatengs discussions of Messi is that he perfectly understands that Messi can't be compared to any other footballer. But he still prefers C. Ronaldo (or Ronaldinho) to Messi, because Messi is such an outlier. This is respectable.

🚨| Is Messi technically the best? Kylian Mbappé: He's not like Neymar technically, but he does everything right. I'll tell you a story. We were doing a finishing drill in Paris, and me and Neymar were among the best. Then after Messi arrived, we divided into 10 groups. Me and Neymar scored 6 or 7 goals. But Messi took 9 shots and scored every single one of them in exactly the same way.😂

@TouchlineX That's the point. Messi mastered the fundamentals of the game to a degree no other human has ever and he uses them with perfect decion-making and rationality. He doesn't need tricks, he doesn't need to be flashy, he never does anything without purpose in football.

@handleym99 @tim_cook @ogawa_tter @PaulMcCartney Maybe you‘re right about the late 80s or 90s band as a better symbolic choice. Seems reasonable. But the idea that the significance of The Beatles has more to do with „boomer sentiment“ and less with their quality is highly debatable. At least much more than you make it look.

That’s peak Boomer sentiment. Exactly the point I am making, this claim that 60s music was as good as it will ever get. When I hear Beatles in a movie soundtrack, I know that exactly the level of boring predictable slop that will follow. I think a nicer touch would have been to use a late 80s or early 90s band. Midway between Apple’s start and now, and not nearly so contentiously coded.

@veldacreation @Bonmatimessi @BlancoRony07 No, those stats show how influential one player is in the game. What he actually does on the pitch. How he interacts with his teammates. Messi does pretty much all of it, he generates football. Ronaldo generates goals, which is the most important thing. But it is limited.
