@JonathanBlick IMO if we’re gonna have a minimum number of games to play to qualify for league leaders in stats (which I think is totally fair) then I have no issue w/ a rule for awards as well. The two should just be a consistent number and not unnecessarily punitive for significant injuries

My increasingly frequent reminder…58 should be the number, or 70 percent of games. That’s the number that’s worked just fine since 2013 for the minimum threshold to qualify for the scoring title and other per game leaders for a full season.

I actually think expirings are in large negative assets these days because stars never hit the market anymore. Having cap space just means you overpay.

Dallas - Minny feels like a bunch of junk-it-up games, where Luka & Kyrie's superior shot & decision making win the day. Fans still underestimating Dallas's defensive execution to keep them in games, even if Minny's D gives them troubles on offense.

@HPbasketball The Mavs did the opposite of running it back. They lost Brunson, their second best player in the playoff run, because they were unwilling to overpay at the time.
Also, beating a 64 win Suns team is hardly fake.

No. the mistakes that Atlanta and the Mavericks made in their fake conference finals runs was being like "We're good enough! We made a conference Finals! " You have to look at the context and think "Hey we have real potential here to springboard off this."

Player 1 (P1) has 5th most talented roster.
P2 has 20th most talented roster.
Should team success play into MVP voting? Should we discount P2 improving team's record because it's not as good as P1?

So the problem here is that the ONLY reason this is being used. The ONLY reason is because Mavs fans want to excuse the impact and wins gap. Because if you don't care about winning or impact and it's just about production, Luka wins.
But there's NO WAY to discard those things.

@HPbasketball It FEELS bizarre because it's different than first 50 games, but is it, truly? Other than 4 or 5 tanking teams, all NBA teams have been trying to win harder than they have all season (Clippers, excluded? lol).

My biggest problem with this is we all see these games and how messy they are. We see teams tanking and resting or injured or just out of it mentally. We see how bizarre the league is over the last six weeks.
And then we comapre these performances to what it was like when the league was in a more serious state. All the games count, but MAN is March and April bizarre.

@HPbasketball Maybe - generally, voters do a good job capturing the whole season. It can work in reverse as well - people so locked in 1 month ago, to change your mind last minutes feels like admitting you were wrong. But, sometimes, facts change enough you should change your mind.
