So many stars of my teen/pre-teen years leaving the stage. RIP Connie Francis one of the greatest, ballads or rock. Queenly, emotional voice. Only Brenda Lee matched her recording impact in late 50s/early 60s. She recorded 3 songs by my pal Don Black. I'm v.jealous. All Connie fans sorry now.

@AlisonMitchell I had a DVT after a long flight once. Hurt like hell but worked out OK in the end. Look after yourself and do what the docs tell you to do.
Well, flying back to the UK with Deep Vein Thrombosis wasn’t part of the plan. But so glad it got detected when it did. And the NHS has been swift this end, same as the medics in Oz ❤️ Feeling fortunate. Wear your flight socks, move and hydrate folks!
Mordecai Sherwin was the last professional captain of @TrentBridge in the 19th C, there was not another until 1961 when John Clay was appointed. This portrait of Sherwin, who also played in goal for Notts County, hangs in the Trent Bridge Long Room. #SportAndArt
Not many cricketers are remembered in stained glass but Rev Philip Williams, who played 20 First-Class games (two for @TrentBridge) in the 1840s, has this splendid memorial in his church St Mary the Virgin at Rewe, Devon. #SportandArt
John Johnson’s portrait hangs over the door to the Long Room @TrentBridge but not for his on-field exploits (just a few games) but as a long-served Hon Sec, club Vice-President and the guiding hand in the building of the ground’s first Pavilion. #SportandArt.
Charley Brown, born this day 1815, was a wicketkeeper-batsman for @TrentBridge whose most original claim to fame was to bowl right arm ‘behind his back’, a curious method that helped to secure him nine First-Class wickets. trentbridge.co.uk/trentbridge/hi…
Six @TrentBridge players appeared for Alfred Shaw’s XI v Melbourne CC XI in January 1887; as tour manager Shaw was not among them. Of the non-Notts players, Johnny Briggs of @Lancscricket was born in Nottinghamshire. Shrewsbury skippered the side and batted at number ten.
30 Dec 1882 @KentCricket's Ivo Bligh & Edmund Tylecote debuted for @ECB_cricket v Australia at MCG. Tylecote top scored in both innings but England lost by 9 wkts. Under Bligh's leadership they won the next 2 Tests, prompting some ladies to burn a bail & put the Ashes in an urn.
