Infectious Disease is now live on Roon! From emerging pathogens to antimicrobial resistance, ID physicians help the world understand and respond to some of medicine’s most complex challenges. Now there’s a dedicated place for those conversations. The Infectious Disease community on Roon is a space for physicians to: • Discuss challenging cases • Share new research and clinical insights • Learn from colleagues across institutions and specialties One thing we know about infectious disease: this is a global community. Roon currently includes U.S. physicians, but expanding to physicians in other countries — and eventually to other health professionals — is a priority. I admit I was sceptical. But I’m now convinced that we (#IDTwitter) should all move to Bluesky. Thousands of us have in the past few weeks. Come and join us (and follow me! @gurujosh.bsky.social). I prob won’t be posting here any more

I used to low key judge urgent cares for giving out azithromycin for URIs and now im seeing a dramatic uptick in ‘paroxysms of nocturnal coughing fits leading to post-tussive emesis’ after several days of URI like symptoms. #COVID negative. Is #whoopingcough making a comeback?

Seems like ID is not a very easy sell 😬 Results : A total of 262 students across 9 medical school campuses completed the survey. Those interested in ID as a career had a significantly higher interest in public health (p<0.0001) and global (p<0.0003) health. The presence of an ID campus interest group (p<0.0015) and direct experience with the ID profession (p<0.0001) were also associated with interest. The most common reasons for lack of interest were lack of interest in pursuing internal medicine or pediatric residency, lack of compensation, and lack of procedures. Those interested in ID expressed interest in a wide variety of career pathways within ID, the most common being general inpatient and outpatient ID, as well as medical microbiology and global health/tropical medicine/travel medicine. Conclusions: Based on this survey, recruitment efforts for new ID fellows might include focusing on students with interests in public and global health, as well as increasing direct exposure to ID at the medical school level. academic.oup.com/cid/advance-ar… in @CIDJournal

Genuinely fourth bounce from a journal. This is for a minor revision. Reasonable to email editor to say this is getting silly now? It is clearly not going to influence the editors, reviewers, or anyone else's opinion on the paper.
