Here we go: The best (only?) precedent for the post-Platner candidate swap. In 2002, NJ Sen. Robert Torricelli dropped Sept. 30 (!) due to ethical issues and was replaced by Frank Lautenberg.
Still, unlike Maine, not a semi-open replacement process and less competitive state.

I've seen many, many baseball games at Citizens Bank Park.
Only Ryan Howard has ever hit a ball into the third deck in RF, but Jac Caglianone hit one tonight.
And I've never seen a ball clear the fans in the upper deck in LF. But Willson Contreras' 490-footer did that.
Cool HR Derby memories through the first 4 rounds

"It’s unlikely Democrats can stop Blanche from being confirmed. They’d need the help of some Senate Republicans to do that…But Democrats can delegitimize him in the court of public opinion."

“Over 1000 FBI analysts were told to review and redact the Epstein Files.
Sources confided there were training videos instructing them on how to find, log, and redact Trump’s name.
The FBI just sent me their response confirming the videos exist.”

Given the multitude of republican candidates that have had similar issues to Platner, there is no moral high ground from which @NoahCRothman @NRO et al have to criticize the democrats. This is a situation where you simply say nothing. You look ridiculous.

NEW -- A Walmart spokesperson tells @crampell the retailer began one of its regular price “Rollback” events early last week—i.e., the week before Trump blasted out his claim that price cuts were imminent and would be happening at his "request."

New from me: Allies of Sen. Ted Cruz are launching a new political organization aimed at countering antisemitism in the GOP
The Front Line, which Cruz is not directly involved with, will operate as a 501(c)(4) nonprofit "aligned with the positions of Ted Cruz dedicated to countering right-wing antisemitism."
A source familiar tells @jewishinsider that those behind the organization have raised several million dollars to fund the operation. They have also appointed Arielle F. Klepach, a former asst U.S. attorney & senior counsel for the National Jewish Advocacy Center, as executive director.

Mike Rowe says he visited a Texas data center and met three “debt-free” electricians under 30 making “north of $240,000/year.”
All three have been “poached” three times in the last 18 months because the demand for electricians is crazy high.
ROWE: “I was in Plano, Texas… got a tour of a data center.”
“I ran into three electricians, all under 30, all making north of 240 grand a year, all debt-free.”
“Now here’s the craziest part. All three had been poached three times in the prior 18 months.”
“The shortages are so acute that the companies don’t have time to train. They have to poach.”
“Great news for an electrician. But it’s a little weird for the economy overall.”

In the end, Platner chose as his closing act a page right out of @realDonaldTrump's tawdry playbook.
Deny. Deflect. Refuse responsibility. Play the martyr; slime your accusers.
Platner built an admirable movement.
But there was nothing admirable about the way he said goodbye.
