NOW: Hearing Council President Sara Nelson is pulling some strange maneuvers, perhaps to try and kill the new Federal Response Committee, designed to strategize local level response to Trump administration

Incredible loss for free speech and peaceful assembly for the City to remove a stage commonly used for speakers at protests right as so many feel motivated to stand up to the Trump administration

BREAKING: Acting Social Security administrator Dudek has just abolished SSA’s CREO department and put all employees on leave. That’s SSA’s statutory civil rights and equal opportunity division. Developing story.

A teen genius with a 4.4 GPA and 1590 SAT Score—who was hired straight out of high school by Google for a Ph.D level Software Engineer position—was rejected by 16 out of 18 colleges including 5 UC Schools: Berkeley, Davis, UCLA, UCSD and UCSB. Now he’s suing for racial discrimination against “highly qualified Asian-American candidates.”

Once again, I don't think people are prepared for just how extreme the lawlessness is going to get here. Trump has made it fairly clear that DOJ won't prosecute any Republican politicians for anything during his presidency. In his first term, he wondered why GOP politicians

Update: D.C. police said they sent an arrest warrant on Rep. Cory Mills to the U.S. attorney’s office on Friday. It has not been signed, and police said the case was sent back to them for further investigation. Sources said it may never result in charges. nbc4dc.com/XemOTyE

National Parks are dominated by East Asian tourists. The price of admission is low because maintenance costs are offset by the American tax payer. There's no logical reason bus loads of people, many of whom we all agree are global adversaries, are using our parks at our prices. Solve that problem and you can have your locksmith back.
Alec MacGillis@AlecMacGillis

"At California’s Yosemite National Park, the Trump administration fired the only locksmith on staff on Friday. He was the sole employee with the keys and the institutional knowledge needed to rescue visitors from locked restrooms." And at other parks:

This is worth expanding and saying out loud: Musk and Trump aren't cutting waste and show no signs of interest in doing so. They're illegally cutting off valuable functions of government.

@GandyBillie @DOGE When someone makes an error that's more than 10% of their claimed value-add, I would in fact expect them to be extremely concerned about it. That's assuming they actually care about cost savings, and not just killing actual value while pretending to save money.

@GandyBillie @DOGE They didn't fix the error, they made it, fixed it on the website after their error was pointed out to them, and changed none of the summary numbers that were based on their error

This is inaccurate. In September 2022, the agency contracting officer mistakenly wrote $8B instead of $8M when logging in the FPDS database. DOGE discovered this error in January 2025, and the agency updated FPDS accordingly. DOGE has always used the correct $8M in its calculations.

DOGE claimed $8 billion in savings from a cancelled contract on their new "wall of receipts." It was actually $8 million. Around the time we published the story, DOGE removed a screenshot that showed the mismatch, but continued to claim 8 bil. in savings. nytimes.com/2025/02/18/ups…

@JordanBanaf @danprimack The only problem here is that Trump and the republican party are 100% controlled by the wealthiest, most powerful few who don't care about anything except gaining more wealth and power, and screwing over everyone else

@danprimack They should talk to a lawyer - AFAIK, "probationary" employees aren't at-will employment as a class, only new hires. DOGE is just trying (and failing) to use probationary status to identify new hires because they're incompetent

Today in DOGE: friend of a friend just got laid off. Been fed employee for over four years, and got promoted less than a year ago. But that promotion is technically a “new” role, thus probationary. In other words, fired because they performed well.

@chamath Okay, but we also know that covid infection is much likelier to easily in much worse long term damage to the immune system - not to mention the whole "it might kill you" part - so on net, still pretty clear that it's safer to take the vaccine than not

The COVID “vaccine” may hurt your immune system AFTER taking it. This was not on the list of known or disclosed risks when many people felt forced to get one. This needs more study but the initial findings seem novel and important.
Alex Berenson@AlexBerenson

VERY URGENT: Top Yale scientists have found of T-cell exhaustion and prolonged spike protein production in some COVID vaccine recipients - with spike levels INCREASING over time. This is the study I wrote about in December. The preprint is out. It’s very, very worrisome.

@rita10654 @dr_andrealove The idea that measles infection magically strengthens the immune system is absurd, because one of the main reasons measles is so dangerous is it makes people *more* susceptible to infection by other viruses, particularly to diseases they would otherwise be immune to.

@rita10654 @dr_andrealove The sole value of measles parties is that infection is much riskier in adults than children. You know what's even less risky? Avoiding infection entirely by training your immune system to prevent it in the first place.
