❌ Generic code suggestions. ✅ Android coding expertise. LLMs should be able to handle the everyday code you write, so we built a benchmark based on common development tasks. Learn about Android Bench and how we’re elevating AI assistance → goo.gle/4qZAeeC

To help you get the most out of AI, we're building a new benchmark to measure how helpful LLMs are for Android development. The benchmark will be composed of real-world problems sourced from public GitHub Android repositories, allowing us to measure a model’s ability to navigate complex codebases, understand dependencies, and solve the kind of problems you encounter every day. @tbrueggenthies We're following up because we didn't get this question live. Yes, and we have plans for more comprehensive Jetpack support for the AndroidKeystore and DataStore. Stay Tuned!

@tripplesixty Although it’s much safer to target M or N if possible when using the Keystore. KitKat does have one that supports Asymmetric (RSA) only keys but it’s lossy.

@tripplesixty If you’re using Jetpack Security, the TEE is used for Android 6.0 and above. Generally if you’re using Keystore manually, make sure you’re using “AndroidKeyStore” which should ensure that this is the case Lollipop and up.

@Jonmarkoff do the Android keystore api's default to using the strongest security posture, using strongbox or TEE for storage if available? Or do you need to rely on setting a hierarchy of preferences during the key creation process? The docs are a bit vague on this matter.

@asadmansr Jetpack Security uses the AndroidKeyStore which supports on-device encryption only currently. I would suggest checking out Tink, and one of the cloud KMS (Key Management System) providers for this. #key-management-systems" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">github.com/google/tink/bl…

Hi @Jonmarkoff, is it possible to make use of Android Jetpack Security during build time rather than run time? E.g. pre-package the APK with some encrypted content like api keys, tokens, etc that can be used when the app is running

@Sanjeevirajmani @AndroidDev Thanks for the context. For now, I would recommend taking a look at that library as we don’t have a built in solution right now. I will take a look at what we can do in the future.

@Jonmarkoff @AndroidDev In iOS, they just need to add this line, it's enough, rest of them are handled by Apple. It would be nice, if Google provides a similar way to enable certificate transparency validation.
