Rivian CEO RJ Scaringe in new interview: "Later this year, we'll have full supervised point-to-point, which will be very similar to @Tesla's FSD. That will roll out to all of our Gen 2 vehicles and, of course, R2. Next year, we'll allow it to go unsupervised, so you can take your eyes off the road. The next step is achieving full capability for the vehicle to drive itself with no one in the car. We've been developing that for a while for our personal vehicles, but we also see it unlocking new business models, robotaxi being one of them. We took the decision to parter with Uber so we could focus on the tech and leverage them for their access to a big distribution channel. They're really a category of one. The improvement i’m saying on minor FSD point releases seems to be increasing.
I didn’t expect 14.3.4 to be much different, but it really feels like the model is coming alive with each minor point release.

@wholemars Just tried it in my brother’s Juniper Y on a quick 12 mile drive - Robotaxi feel.
Let’s face it - Tesla AI team has ruined me - the only thing that will excite me now apparently will be pothole detection followed by being able to watch Netflix. Software is crazy good already!

Wow. FSD 14.3.4 is so good. It’s beyond smooth at this point. It feels so powerful, precise, and assertive. More like some technology out of Tron than a human driver. The real eye opening moment was using Mad Max mode on Mulholland Drive on a dark foggy night. Just unreal.

@JonnyD691 @wholemars We are in the age of AI. Rivian has the proper stack and they don't need to keep patching a failed architecture as Tesla does. Look how quickly LUCID got their L4 permit in California, it took them 8 months. Tesla didn't even apply, wonder how bad realy is

@JonnyD691 @wholemars Rivian has the advantage of having a much more focused approach to get to level 4. Tesla had to restart their approach in 2023 to get to end to end autonomy. Considering rivian has had 2.5 years with gen 2 data with their end to end system, it seems appropriate timing .

I have to put a disclaimer here as always. For me so far the brake stabbing is gone and that was by far my biggest issue. If there are other problems you had that you were annoyed by, maybe they didn't change.
And what if brake stabbing is 99.9% fixed? I may never see it but once it goes to everyone we'll see multiple reports of it.
