@yacineMTB You can get around that by sending broadcast UDP packets, which, by definition, can't be ACK'd. WiFi is literally broadcast anyway... I did that for long distance communication on my rockets.

When you stream Spotify to Bluetooth speakers or headphones, the audio comes over the network lossily compressed with Vorbis or AAC codecs, is then decoded on your device to 48 Khz raw samples, then the Bluetooth stack lossily re-compresses it with SBC or AAC codecs before sending it over the airwaves to the speakers. I don’t have “golden ears” to pick apart audio quality like I can with, say, missing gamma correction on texture filtering, but that still hurts my system optimization soul. It is likely over-optimization, but It would be cleaner if there were a way to send bluetooth-ready, compressed audio directly.

@DJSnM The one notable thing about optical ground to orbit is that there is a customer asking for RF jam-proof links. I'm very skeptical that there is any other demand willing to pay for what the optical link will deliver in practice

@jeremyphoward I haven't noticed truncation with GhosTTY itself. Linux kernel does have a 4 KiB size limit for a single line that truncates, and a configurable 16pg x 4 KiB = 64 KiB size limit for the FIFO buffer used by pipes that will pause input until reading clears and reopens it.

@jeremyphoward Terminal Agnostic advice if it's useful: I don't think anything will be faster than using `wl-copy` or `wl-paste` with pipes. If you want to record the full text in your history, try `wl-paste | tee >(next_command)`

Anyone using Wezterm? I've been having quite a few issues with Ghostty recently (particularly with trying to paste more then a few lines of text in—it often truncates) so wondering about trying something else. I've used alacritty before, and liked it. wezterm.org
