@TFCNU2 Yah, very true and perhaps a prove-it moment for Marsch. He’s got players on the verge of breaking through at most positions, along with a number of guys who are on a sharp decline. Can he make the transition? Good question. I’d like to think he can, more so than Herdman could.

@TFCNU2 I don’t think he’s done enough to warrant this kind of concern. He’s got his guys like any coach, and while the keeper decision looms large, let’s see how things look in a year. Dude stuck with Ahmed when people like myself were super skeptical. It works both ways.

My biggest concern with extending Marsch is that he won't move away from his Copa America core quickly enough. We've seen him put his thumb on the scales for guys like Crépeau and Shaffelburg already. And the calendar for the next cycle doesn't leave much time to reset. #CanMNT

@JeffreyPNesker Tend to agree. Shaf and Millar bring the same profile. Hoilett is different and the type of guy I’d want to bring on late if we’re having trouble breaking down a low block.

@RobTheHockeyGuy One thing that may be overlooked is opportunity to get injured players into game shape. Saw that some of the injured players participated in a friendly with a USL-1 team. Not sure if that opportunity would be available in Canada — maybe it would, I dunno.

Canada prepping to play in a World Cup that they're hosting, ahead of a friendly in Edmonton, by having training camp in... North Carolina
Ben Steiner@BenSteiner00

Jesse Marsch says the #CanMNT spoke with FC Bayern and that Alphonso Davies will join the team on May 31 in Edmonton. "We'll pick up his rehab from there, and try to put him in a position to physically succeed and to be part of our team." Absent from Charlotte training camp.

@dlicps Agreed. I’m also in the Pantemis camp, but if he wasn’t going to get a real shot to play, then I’m okay bringing Goodman. It has to be Crépeau. He’s been less than stellar but he’s also playing in front of insurance salesmen and line cooks in Orlando.

@AsaRehman It’s been great to see his unexpected but well deserved rise up the Whitecaps and CanMNT depth chart. We’ll see what happens on Friday, but he could certainly be useful as an end of the bench option especially given all the CB injuries. Would prefer him over Waterman among others

We've seen it from the moment he moved into the CB spot with the Vancouver Whitecaps. Still don't know if the rest of Canada really understands and appreciates how good he is. #CanMNT

@AsaRehman The Miller news makes me hopeful for Priso. I do not think hes in the Bombito conversation. But in that Tunisia game his recovery runs reminded me of him.

@JasdeepR1 @dlicps Fair enough. I’d agree that anything could happen. Would lean 1. Turkiye 2. ‘Murica 3. Australia 4. Paraguay

@Joose_Boxx @dlicps I agree but that doesn’t mean much. This group has no guaranteed results. Turkey could finish 1st as easily as they could finish 4th. My prediction: 1. Australia 2. Turkiye 3. USA 4. Paraguay

It’s a general theme I’m seeing out of USMNT’s fanbase in terms of how much they massively underestimate Australia 🇺🇸🇦🇺 I did that last World Cup under Graham Arnold, and I learned the hard way that I was wrong Now? They’re even better and have an actual future crop of players

@OnTheRun_HM @JustinMacmahan Under that scenario is he is the lowest paid starter in the NFL and he does what he did last year, which teams already know he can do. His only risk of holding out is if the Cards fine him and let him sit. Every other scenario is financial win for Jacoby.

@Joose_Boxx @JustinMacmahan Hes not losing money by playing it out. What could really screw him is if Cards cut him and he gets even less somewhere else. As Justin said it could help him get traded in season or help his value next offseason. Theres prob gonna be a lot of stat padding in Zona games this yr.

Jacoby Brissett starred in a Progressive commercial last year that labeled him a backup. He’s been given the gift of a lifetime in Arizona: an uncompetitive team wants to start a 33-year-old with low future upside. And yet Brissett’s agent thinks he deserves way more money. Yikes
Josh Weinfuss@joshweinfuss

NEWS: The Cardinals and QB Jacoby Brissett are "significantly" far apart in negotiations to rework the last year of his contract for 2026, a source told ESPN. The gap in the negotiations puts into question whether Brissett, who has yet to report to Arizona's voluntary offseason program, will attend next week's voluntary OTAs, the source said. @JustinMacmahan @OnTheRun_HM Flacco’s a good example as another backup making more than Brissett is being paid to start. The situation you described could play out whether Brissett was making $5.4 in Arizona or more money as a backup elsewhere. He’s got a decade of tape, 2026 isn’t making a big difference

@Joose_Boxx @OnTheRun_HM If he plays really well, he could get traded to a team that needs a quarterback at the deadline and continue in that type of role. Look how much guys like Joe Flacco have continued to be brought in to start into old age

@OnTheRun_HM @JustinMacmahan What market? He’s 33. He’s not going to increase his value. He loses money by playing it out. He’s not trying to be a starter, he’s trying to earn as much money as possible. If he can start then so be it, but it may turn out that he gets more money as a backup elsewhere.

@JustinMacmahan Also, what r Brissett’s options at this point? Cards say no and cut him. Then he gets signed by another team as a backup. His best course of action is play w/ Cards, pad his stats and hit market after year.

@JustinMacmahan Nobody will sign him to a big contract. But he should at least get more money than the guy the Cards signed to back him up. If he can get himself even a couple mil more it’s a huge win for a guy who’ll be out of the league in a few years.

@EchoedPixels @jmthrivept This is a fair point but if you’re Brissett you take the risk. I mean, his own backup on the Cards makes more than him. It’s a worthwhile gamble for a guy with only a few years left.

I don’t understand what Jacoby Brissett plans to do if Arizona doesn’t agree to his terms. They could cut him and save $5.9M, roll with Minshew and Carson Beck, land a better 2027 pick. It’s not like Jacoby would start anywhere else. Every other team has their starter situated.

@churleyboy @jmthrivept off the top of my head: Seahawks (Lock an easy cut), Chargers (they have no viable backup), Broncos, Lions, Vikings (starter?), entire AFC South, Bills, Pats, Giants, Cowboys. Some may not have cap room, but lots of options as a backup making more than $5.4 mil.

@churleyboy @jmthrivept Given his competency and the low bar for backup QBs, I’d imagine a lot of teams would be interested especially as you’re now at the point where teams with cap space can fairly easily add him on a 1-year deal.
