@Jordan9Brian Thanks, that’s great to know. There weren’t many shorthaul tags. Ankara, served as an extension of the Istanbul service was another that springs to mind.

What a difference a month can make…. Last month I operated my longest flight, 14:55hr from take-off to touchdown. Tonight I’ll do my shortest, potentially just 18 mins, LHR 09R to LGW 08R. The 777 fleet always keeps it interesting !

@Tim_the_Pilot It was LHR-CPH-MMX; I think, bearing in mind that it was some time ago, on Saturdays. Through CPH then on to MMX for a nightstop. Mid-morning out of MMX and back via CPH. One clear memory is that we took check-in staff from CPH to deal with the MMX departure.

@Jordan9Brian I never realised BA ever operated a tag to Malmo. Was that an extension of the Gatwick or the Heathrow to Copenhagen service ?

@BenGrahamUK Because we are too impatient to wait 239 years for it to be finished?

Lincoln Cathedral was built nearly 1,000 years ago, without modern machinery, engineering degrees, or materials. Today with every advantage imaginable, we rarely create anything that comes close. This isn’t a question of capability. It’s a question of standards. Why can’t we build like this anymore?

“Thousands of Brits have backed a call to halve the national speed limit from 60mph to 30mph on single carriageway roads.” This is absolutely ridiculous for so many different reasons.

There were probably HUNDREDS of CHEMTRAILS today! I saw DOZENS of FAT LOW Xs over my home as well! Look at what they did to the sun again! THIS IS DEMONIC!

CHEMTRAIL FORECAST: Sunshine and showers for most of UK today (probably more cloud than sun for most) but no long trails except in the far southeast. Similar tomorrow, again zero chemtrail action. Spraying resumes Tuesday morning in the west, spreading to most areas by sunset.

I have a second piece in today’s @ftweekend in which I rant about waiters asking intrusive questions. Because I am old, and have lived too much life for this malarkey. ft.com/content/354685…

@CarlWeigel1 Don't forget, clouds predate aircraft. There is supersaturated air up there wanting to condense. You may see a contrail growing, but even without an aircraft, you may have been witnessing natural cirrus clouds forming.

Yep, I'm no scientist, it's my understanding now due to increased air traffic given the correct humidity, temp, wind speed of the air, contrails/jet engine exhaust... AIC's can cool by blocking sunlight, warm at night by holding in the heat. Less sun Sucks
Matt Bornong@MattBornong

@CarlWeigel1 Just want to remind you, contrails both warm and cool the atmosphere. It's still debated what the actual effect is, and it's still very low on the totem pole.

@MR_275_285 This particular trait goes back to sibling rivalry and my mother getting fed up with the "They have got more than me arguments." Things were weighed and counted. 😀

@TakeThatClouds I'll save you the bother... Left ADI toppled and fail flags on several flight and engine intruments. A straight in visual approach sounds like a good plan.

Aviation people: I was watching The Crown last night and a pilot (carrying the coffin of Edward VIII) said he was "passing through flight level 17 for 2,500", while descending. Is that a script error (as FL17 would mean 1,700ft) or is 17 accepted shorthand for FL170?

@BLackgold_5 Vickers Concord. This was in Paris just before the start of the invasion of Slovenia, 1964. 😉 After conquering them we renamed their capital Ljubljana so we could laugh at people trying to pronounce it.
