@Tim_the_Pilot I did that once in my early years. On an HS21.

@Jordan9Brian Thanks, that’s great to know. There weren’t many shorthaul tags. Ankara, served as an extension of the Istanbul service was another that springs to mind.
English

@Tim_the_Pilot It was LHR-CPH-MMX; I think, bearing in mind that it was some time ago, on Saturdays. Through CPH then on to MMX for a nightstop. Mid-morning out of MMX and back via CPH. One clear memory is that we took check-in staff from CPH to deal with the MMX departure.
English

@Jordan9Brian I never realised BA ever operated a tag to Malmo. Was that an extension of the Gatwick or the Heathrow to Copenhagen service ?
English

@BenGrahamUK Because we are too impatient to wait 239 years for it to be finished?
English

Lincoln Cathedral was built nearly 1,000 years ago, without modern machinery, engineering degrees, or materials.
Today with every advantage imaginable, we rarely create anything that comes close.
This isn’t a question of capability.
It’s a question of standards.
Why can’t we build like this anymore?

English

I’ve seen these images — a dark line from sky to earth with a white contrail heading DOWN it as if on a guided track of some kind - and I don’t understand them either.

Wonder who is trying to block out the sun Oh wait it’s that one guy that talks about depopulation of the earth isn’t that bill gates He needs to be investigated and removed from what ever he does
English

@MistyDoverIT @Tara4Lynn4 But they have seen the Xs, what more proof do they need?
English

@Tara4Lynn4 Nobody has ever seen a “chemtrail”.
Just saying. 🤪
English

@OperHealAmerica My non-existant god is better than your non-existant god.
English

@IoanaLogafatu @TakeThatClouds Almost certainly me. Probably. Possibly. Ish.
English

@Jordan9Brian @TakeThatClouds I was on the left, and saw someone waving 😁
English

@TakeThatClouds @IoanaLogafatu Just a bit west of me. I stood in the garden and waved but unless Ioana had a window seat on the left...
English

@jayrayner1 @ftweekend "Is everything alright"
"I'll let you know when I have eaten everything."
English

I have a second piece in today’s @ftweekend in which I rant about waiters asking intrusive questions. Because I am old, and have lived too much life for this malarkey.

@IoanaLogafatu @CarlWeigel1 ... until you are blue in the face 🥶
English

@CarlWeigel1 Don't forget, clouds predate aircraft. There is supersaturated air up there wanting to condense. You may see a contrail growing, but even without an aircraft, you may have been witnessing natural cirrus clouds forming.
English

Yep, I'm no scientist, it's my understanding now due to increased air traffic given the correct humidity, temp, wind speed of the air, contrails/jet engine exhaust...
AIC's can cool by blocking sunlight, warm at night by holding in the heat.
Less sun Sucks

@CarlWeigel1 Just want to remind you, contrails both warm and cool the atmosphere. It's still debated what the actual effect is, and it's still very low on the totem pole.
English

@IoanaLogafatu @MR_275_285 My mother's solution to this was "one cuts and the other chooses".
English

@MR_275_285 This particular trait goes back to sibling rivalry and my mother getting fed up with the "They have got more than me arguments." Things were weighed and counted. 😀
English

@Piloto_Steve @JesusIsMyKingX That's a relief, I thought it was Jimmy Savile.
English

@TakeThatClouds I'll save you the bother...
Left ADI toppled and fail flags on several flight and engine intruments. A straight in visual approach sounds like a good plan.

English

@Jordan9Brian I didn't notice that, I'll have to go back and have a closer look.
English

@DeborahClaireUK @BLackgold_5 The best attempt I heard was Eljubblejaner.
English

@BLackgold_5 Vickers Concord. This was in Paris just before the start of the invasion of Slovenia, 1964. 😉 After conquering them we renamed their capital Ljubljana so we could laugh at people trying to pronounce it.
