@jayrayner1 @kelvmackenzie I dispute this, counter terrorism are leading the investigation, that is public knowledge released by the police. This means they have found evidence to indicate it is political/terror related. These are facts released by police not interpretation

So a bloke drives 300 miles from Rotherham in the day bringing with him a foot long pole which was used to murder a famous politician in her remote Dartmoor home and yet police say there’s no political link. What, pray, do they believe was the motive? There are 650 MPs who have a very vested interest in finding out.

@Gaffermac @kelvmackenzie Under the contempt of court act 1981 there ARE reporting restrictions. The fact you are not aware of them or the act does not change that.

Someone has been arrested in connection with the death of Ann Widdecombe - that means publishing anything, including posts on X, which risks seriously prejudicing a trial, is an offence. It also doesn’t help her friends and family in obtaining justice. Link in next post…

@NigelXYYMan Well. I co-wrote three editions of McNae’s Essential Law for Journalists and specifically the chapter on contempt, so I think maybe I’ve got a better grip of it than you. Schedule 1, Contempt of Court Act 1981, says proceedings are active once someone is arrested. Look it up.
