@DJZigs Everybody circled is playing him on for sure. There could be one other as well but I don't care enough to figure that out when there are already 5 circled.

The DCU is probably ending with Man of Tomorrow so to prepare for that I recommend reading The Last Days of Lex Luthor by Mark Waid. Also a story where Superman and Lex have to team up to stop Brainiac and it also serves as a beautiful conclusion to their rivalry.

I'm not running for office. But if I were, these are some of the lessons I'd take away from what happened in NY yesterday. 1. Authenticity is measurable. Voters can smell a focus group from a mile away. 2. Endorsements from the current Democratic leadership now read like warnings. The establishment wing of the party is no longer a sword. It's a question mark. 3. Conviction beats caution. The candidates who said hard things about rent, about who pays for what, about Gaza, they won. The triangulators lost. 4. Cost of living is everything. Everything else is wallpaper. 5. The middle is not a strategy. It's an empty room. Voters reached past the establishment to grab someone who actually believes something. 6. Don't fear the base. Court it. The Democrats who ran from their own voters lost. The ones who ran toward them won. 7. If you want to lead a party you have to be willing to fight inside it. Mamdani didn't ask permission. He took the field. The lesson under the lessons: the country is tired of being managed. People want to be led.

The politics of Hollywood is a funny thing. If they had Sydney Sweeney play Supergirl, the movie would be a smash, but because comic book movies are leftist, they needed someone ugly, and thus the movie is a bomb.
Variety@Variety

#Supergirl is a “super-horrendous” comic book movie “with the worst script I can remember,” reads Variety’s review from @OwenGleiberman. James Gunn said he wasn’t going into production on any movie until the script was rock-solid. For that was the overriding problem with the superhero overkill era: the films had lousy scripts, which served as grids for layering visual effects. Gunn was right to want to take the comic-book genre back to the basics of well-structured screenwriting. So what has he done in his second DC outing? He’s given us a comic-book movie with the worst script I can remember. wp.me/pc8uak-1lHr5y

SUPERGIRL makes the same mistake that SUPERMAN did in casting a pitch perfect actor in the lead role but not giving them a movie worthy of the quality of their performance. Milly Alcock, like David Corenswet, is phenomenal, but the movie surrounding her is anything but.

As much as I don't want to add to the pile on, I think James Gunn needs to cut Tom King loose after the Mister Miracle show.
Gabe Hernandez | Urban Fantasy Author@MrGabeHernandez

I don't want Supergirl to fail, but I have a strong suspicion that it will. Why? Because Gunn and WB are making all the wrong decisions right from the start. . . For all its praise, Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow was not a blockbusting comic. Eisner's don't matter. Social media praise doesn't matter. All that matters is sales, and before it was announced as the inspiration for the film, sales were middling. Why were sales middling? It (again) goes back to Tom King. He's a divisive writer who revels in warping established characters into unrecognizable shapes. He has his fanbase, but that group is increasingly niche. Why choose this story if it's divisive? James Gunn apparently fancies himself an edge lord, so he chose (with WB's input, probably) this story because it's dark, edgy, and modern. Call it a lack of creative sense mixed with executive coercion, if you like, but it was ultimately a faulty choice. Why choose this script writer? King didn't write the script adaptation. Script duties fell to Ana Nogueira, who has no major film-writing experience. None. Zero. Zip. Again, handing off an important follow-up to the first film in the Gunnverse to an unproven talent shows a lack of judgment from the beginning. Why now? There's no intuitive reason to do a Supergirl film now when the trinity or, by extension, the League isn't established. The net effect is a strategic plan that comes across as random. Again, the lack of proper judgment rears its head. What's the result? The wrong story, written by the wrong writers, released at the wrong time, amounts to the wrong strategy for building out a DCU that comic fans can support and rally behind.

@NikkoCaruso It’s quite ironic, @JamesGunn said audiences are tired of mediocre superhero movies - he’s right - & yet, that’s EXACTLY what he’s produced since being in-charge of DC movies & production.

#Supergirl — Milly Alcock is exceptional in a movie that’s otherwise disappointing. A movie that gets in its own way more times than I could count. An engaging tone & some great emotional beats are held back by an inconsistent script, a cringe Jason Momoa performance, & one of the worst CBM villains you’ll ever see. This character, and especially Alcock, needed much better treatment. It’s not bad, but it’s frustrating when you think about how good it could’ve been.

Hasan Piker: “There’s always a healthy flow of migrant workers that will come to the US that will work for pennies on the fucking dollar to make ends meat to work in slave-like conditions because they’re desperate. Why are they desperate? Because we’ve destroyed their countries. We’ve manipulated their finances, destroyed their economy, extracted their natural resources. We’ve kept them down and underdeveloped by design to create this chaos and then they’re desperate enough to come here and we don’t allow them to get the proper paperwork so our capital owners can justify paying them nothing”

@ErinUnderwood It’s WB’s job to convince us to see this movie with her cameos and trailers. If we don’t like what we’re seeing we’re allowed to express that dislike. It’s also a character people already know and love so we’re allowed to not like how it appears they are adapting her.

I am growing exhausted by the constant onslaught of people posting the equivalent of a Fail Publicity Campaign for a movie that hasn’t even come out yet. Could we please just let people decide for themselves? Love it or hate it, it’s just kind of rude to other people who are just regular people wanting to see a movie to have so many people jumping on the Fail Bandwagon…. And most of the posts are written in such a way that they are delighting in trying to make it fail…. Because that’s what the algorithm rewards. Whether this film lives or dies is not the point. The point is that other people who just want to go see a movie are feeling like they can’t go see the movie they want to see because it feels like everyone is pressuring them not to see it…. Or pressuring them to hate it. People deserve to go see the movies they enjoy. People also deserve to avoid seeing the movies they don’t want to see. But nobody deserves to have the internet telling them what they should feel good about seeing and what they should feel bad about seeing. There is so little joy in the world right now, why take away someone else’s joy just because you don’t want to see a movie? It is okay to see supergirl if you want to see supergirl.
