As we enter the new tax year, here's a reminder of the action this government is taking to go after those who take people's money but don't pay the tax they owe: 💥 Supersizing our reward scheme for people who report serious tax avoidance or evasion to HMRC. Informants could get 30% of any additional revenue HMRC receives. 💥 Cracking down on umbrella companies used to underpay tax by extending liability further up the supply chain. 💥 Introducing a new power to ban abusive tax schemes immediately, bypassing convoluted court processes. 💥 Blocking promoters of tax avoidance from accessing essential banking and social media services. 💥 Simplifying the process for issuing penalties to those who set up tax schemes without disclosing them to HMRC. 💥 Boosting HMRC powers to eliminate fraud within the Construction Industry Scheme.

I’m glad that this morning the PM condemned the disgusting comments made by Reform’s housing chief Simon Dudley. He has rightly been sacked. The Grenfell tower fire was an entirely preventable tragedy that claimed the lives of 72 people. The lessons that we learn from Grenfell must be the right ones.

I'm glad to see this strong and immediate response from @SteveReedMP on these appalling comments from Reform on Grenfell. The Grenfell Tower fire was entirely preventable and foreseen. No building should be wrapped in dangerous and flammable cladding. Increasing social and affordable housing in Britain is an urgent priority, but those who try to trade off safety in this way are not fit for office.

Big developments in the U.S. have just put a spotlight on the risks that children face online, with platforms like Instagram and YouTube found to be deliberately addictive. This should concern all of us. Here in the UK, the government is now consulting on how best to protect children online, and it’s vital that parents, carers, teachers and young people have their say. As both a parent and an MP, this is something I care deeply about. We need to get this right. Today's news that the Mayor of London will provide £4.66M for the 60th Notting Hill Carnival is hugely welcome. It will ensure a well organised and safe carnival can go ahead. Last year, residents told me they appreciated the extra stewarding and crowd control measures, that made Carnival 2025 one of the best organised in recent history. This funding from the Mayor will ensure we can build on that in 2026, and put on a great event.

Reform have been bank rolled by overseas residents who made their fortune in Crypto, flirted with Elon Musk over a $100M donation and now Nigel Farage is investing £200k of his money into Kwasi Kwarteng's Crypto company. Foreign interference in our politics is unacceptable. Labour is putting a stop to dodgy foreign money in our politics, and anonymous crypto donations.

Residents at St Joseph's Close in Golborne have battled anti-social behaviour, fly tipping, illegal parking and waste spills for years. Working with brilliant residents like Amal and local Councillors, I was pleased that the housing provider installed a new electric gate and proper covers for the bins. Our Safe and Healthy Homes campaign in Kensington & Bayswater is all about ensuring residents have respect, proactive communications and timely repairs from their landlords. Very pleased to support the Government announcement on a moratorium on crypto donations into our politics from today. So why is this form still online? We must stop anonymous money undermining our democracy.

Our Renters’ Rights Act will see Section 21 ‘no fault’ evictions abolished on 1 May in 37 days’ time. It would be utterly shameful for any landlord to attempt to use it to evict tenants en masse before that date. theguardian.com/society/2026/m…
