Within our Dept of Foreign Affairs Iran is a four letter word to be rarely uttered unless absolutely essential to meet the requirements of performative politics & to preserve credibility within the EU. Likely all ministerial statements and most tweets posted are civil service prepared. In recent days a series of irrelevant inanities have mostly been attributed to the Minister. Any chance someone in the Department will cop on & draft a statement or tweet demanding Iran cancel all pending executions of arrested & jailed protesters against the regime, stop their prior torture & physical abuse & effect their immediate release? How about also calling in Iran’s ambassador to communicate the message & inform him that shld there be one more execution he will be expelled? Maybe do something that matters beyond waffle.

This MUST be the end….Keir Starmer, in fact the whole government should not be able to survive this. Not content with blatantly lying when they claimed they did not know the extent of Mandelsons relationship with Epstein, it now turns out that he FAILED the security vetting. The government claim that Starmer and in fact NO ministers were aware that he failed the vetting and that some mysterious “officials” in the foreign office overruled the failed vetting and passed him anyway. How believeable is that….not even slightly. Would some civil servant or lowly MP sign off on the most important diplomatic appointment in the country without even consulting their political bosses….and if they did it means our so called elected representatives are not in charge and not running the country. Either way they MUST GO. Either Starmer or the foreign secretary at the time of both must resign tomorrow.
