@JoshMeulen29397 @SMUS16475 Yes. Aliens kidnap children and zap their brains so they’ll be forced to spread the alien agenda and attempt to force humans to be like them. Heartwarming stuff.

Disclosure Day is the kind of film that makes you question every conspiracy theory you’ve ever dismissed, while simultaneously making you want to believe a few of them. That’s a tricky balance to strike, and Spielberg pulls it off with the confidence of a director who has been thinking about life beyond Earth for almost his entire career.
If there’s one obsession that has run through Spielberg’s filmography from Close Encounters of the Third Kind to E.T., it’s his fascination with the non-human, with the “other” out there in the dark. Disclosure Day feels like the culmination of that decades-long preoccupation. It doesn’t just ask whether we’re alone in the universe, it makes you feel the scale of that question. The film leaves you with the sense that the universe is vast, that there are countless other people, other places, and other forms of life out there, and that humanity might just be a small part of something much bigger.
Structurally, this is a tight, well-built thriller from start to finish. The first act hooks you immediately and the tension barely lets up through the second and third acts. It’s the kind of film that keeps you on the edge of your seat for its entire runtime, with a screenplay that never wastes a scene. The writing is sharp, the pacing is controlled, and the film earns its slow reveals instead of rushing them.
The cast is firing on all cylinders. Emily Blunt is fantastic as Margaret Fairchild, the meteorologist who finds herself at the center of the story, bringing both vulnerability and steel to the role. Josh O’Connor is excellent as always, playing Daniel Kellner with the kind of quiet intensity that makes you root for him from the first scene. Colman Domingo, playing Hugo Wakefield, a former insider at the shadowy Wardex organization, is a standout too, lending real weight and moral complexity to a character who could easily have been a plot device in lesser hands. The rest of the ensemble holds its own and adds texture to a story that could have easily felt thin in supporting roles.
It’s not just another invasion story or a found-footage scare. It’s a film about secrets, about what it would mean for ordinary people if the truth about non-human life was finally revealed, and about how that truth might reshape our understanding of our place in the universe. It manages to be thrilling and contemplative at the same time, and by the end, you find yourself reconsidering ideas you might have once written off as fringe theories.
Overall, this is Spielberg doing what he does best: blending spectacle, sincerity, and a real sense of wonder. I don’t why this movie has people divided, but Disclosure Day is a tight, smart, beautifully acted sci-fi thriller, and one of the most satisfying films in this genre in years.
4/5 for me.

@wintersmith2026 @disclosureday Acting was amazing, my wife isn’t into the UFO lore and aliens and she said it was the best movie she has ever seen. Not exactly sure what people were expecting but it’s a movie about the struggles it would take to get a full alien disclosure day to the public
English

@JoshMeulen29397 @disclosureday Can you explain what you liked about it? I was so excited to see this film and thought it was terrible. I loved Jaws; everyone even the shark was believable. This wasnt convincing at all.

@wintersmith2026 @disclosureday Well there wasn’t a boring part of the movie and it practically was a real life movie on how the government handles people that have encountered ufos/aliens and showed how the government will go to crazy measures to keep they’re secrets from going public.

Disclosure Day was atrociously bad.
I mean, potentially one of the worst movies I’ve ever seen.
Multiple people got up and left the theaters, people were on their phones, fidgeting and completely uninterested.
Uninteresting, corny beyond belief, premise sucked. Acting was just bad. Music cringed me out.
This felt like a boomer blockbuster, and Steven Spielberg tarnished himself with this one.
Rough watch, if you can stay awake. Save your money.

@DiscussingFilm It was honestly the best movie I’ve ever seen, not sure how it could even earn one bad review.
