Correct me if I’m wrong, but this seems to happen all the time in tech. Shopify built its reputation by listening to small, growing entrepreneurs and solving our problems. That’s how the platform gained momentum. I literally helped 20 people move onto Shopify. But as they’ve grown and started serving much larger companies, the focus feels like it changed. Now when my small businesses run into issues, the response often isn’t to improve the core platform. It’s “You can solve that with a Shopify Plus account.” There’s a pattern here and it’s dumb: companies earn loyalty by solving real problems for small operators. Once they scale and attract enterprise clients, instead of continuing to strengthen the foundation, they gate it.

I’ve been at the Olympics for 10 days, and I can honestly say every single second has been positive. Aside from a couple of Canadians giving me some playful side-eye, every interaction has been incredible. I’ve met people from all over the world — from Iran to the Netherlands, Australia, and Japan. The power of sport to unite people is so understated. Going to the Olympics is truly a must for everyone.
