If you got the "Curling Bug" watching the Olympics... head down to The Sydenham Curling Club this weekend (Saturday and Sunday) for The Crazy Legs Bonspiel. Competitive curling, and the final event of the season. Will the team of Brian Glover, Dennis Alexander, Phil Alexander and Ryan Laidlaw repeat as winners?

Sully Burrows was the "Mystery Guest" at the Red Barn last night. A True talent ...and rising musician destined for stardom. I missed the show last night. I had uncle responsibilities. ❤️ (Hockey game with my nephews) Sully would understand, his grandpa played with the Maple Leafs. My Kelly was there, and said the show was phenomenal. Kudos to the crowd that gave this 19 year old, a small town welcome that he will never forget.

Hydro Update. Power will be back at 9pm tonight. A good fire and glass of wine seems to comfort the loss of electricity. ⚡️ Electricity is overrated... lol.

We've been without hydro (like many of you in our area) since 7pm last night. (Its 11am now) Its a little chilly this morning. However - A little appreciation post for Entegrus. They have a great website that shows outages, and information. Very helpful. I didn't see us on that list and thought "Do they know our area is without power" So... I called the information line, which gives you a few options... and eventually a customer service agent is on the phone. A REAL HUMAN. I let her know our issue, she was thankful I called, and then informed me, MY area is under Hydro One. (Very kind, did not make fun of me as the rest of my friends would for not knowing who I pay each month .... lol) But then she says, let me find out some details for you. Gave me the update, and that Hydro One is anticipating the hydro will be back by 1pm. Really, really good customer service to the Entegrus team. Not their area of service, but researched the answers I needed. Outstanding. Special thanks to those hydro workers who were working through the night in high winds to restore our electricity yesterday and today. Appreciate you. @Entegrus

Denny has never done this before....he slipped. ...and now I'm a little mind boggled on who is coming to the Mystery Concert March 19th. Wow!! There is nothing you can do to bribe me to reveal who is coming.... BUT... When I saw that there are several tickets left for this show.... if you're a country music fan, (or just a music fan) you dont want to miss this show! A definite top name in The Canadian Country Music scene right now. Millions upon millions of streams. We play this artist regularly on our sister country station THE RANCH 100.1FM in Listowel. An incredible talent. Tickets are only $50, and I can promise you the next time you see this artist, I will be in a 5000 seat arena, not in a 150 person venue. 👀 For tickets - redbarnbrewing.com/events Sorry you slipped Denny.... but a nice catch of an upcoming superstar performing in CK!

@GregCKL That’s wicked Greg there is definitely something special about the Olympics but having it in our own country is a little extra I felt the same way about Calgary 88 my father followed the games very close which rubbed off on me also. It was great reading your posts from Italy

A long post - sorry. It has been a whirlwind week after the Olympics. Getting caught up on work this week and the jet lag. Lol I wanted to share a wrap up of 'The Olympic experience' that is almost impossible to put in words. I shared radio reports from Italy each day on CKXS 99.1FM which was a more a passion project than work. Ben O'Hara Byrne from the Corus/Global News Radio Network reached out while I was there to join him on his National Weekend Morning show across Canada to talk about the experience. He asked me - "What is the feeling you have being there?" The only word I could come up with was "Blessed" To be in the same building as these athletes and to be there watching the best athletes on the planet (after millions of hours of training and practice) was just mind blowing. In 1976 (as a 9 year old) I was glued to the TV every day while the athletes competed in Montreal. I remember thinking "I cant believe these athletes are all in Canada and I'm in Canada too" I felt so close to the action. I couldn't wait for my Dad to come home from the coffee shop each day with the newspaper so I could read about the latest Canadian accomplishments. My reading in school was average at the time, but thanks to the Olympics I read every day, and questioned my Dad on words I didn't understand or couldn't pronounce. I kept a scrapbook of news stories that came out in the newspaper each day (I still have it) of all the stories about Canadians at The Olympics. That book is almost 100 pages. So, fast forward to Milan Italy .... to sit there and watch our Canadians at the Olympics ... my nine year old self would have been in awe of me. "You're actually there" So the only two words I can come up with to describe my experience are "Blessed and Proud" Thank you for letting me share my journey with you, and for the ride of a lifetime. BTW- those ridiculous red pants I was wearing? Those were my Dad's. I thought he needed to join me at The Olympics too.

If you have time.... the lunar eclipse started at 5 a.m. this morning...., the moon is slowly disappearing and according to CTV NEWS- with the moon getting darker and darker until about 6 a.m. “And for a split second, the moon will be completely dark, and then that’s when it will turn red. So between 6 and 7 a.m., with totality taking place around 6:30, you’ll have this red blood moon,” Orbax said. The red hue is created as the sun’s light passes through the Earth’s atmosphere, causing blue light to be diverted away from the moon, while the longer wavelengths of red light bend toward the moon. Unlike solar eclipses, lunar eclipses can be safely watched with the naked eye, protective glasses are not needed. Orbax noted that the timing of this lunar eclipse, happening just before sunrise in southwestern Ontario, makes it especially convenient for people to see it, including young people. “This is happening just in the a couple of hours before school. It’s a great opportunity to take a look up and talk about science and about the universe.” The next full lunar eclipse that will be visible southwestern Ontario will happen in June 2029. You can watch Orbax’s complete explanation with illustrating graphics in this month’s edition of the Star Gazing Guide. Photo from NASA. ENJOY!
