Today I celebrated 10 years of serving as one of the pastors of Fortified Hills Baptist Church. It has been one of the absolute joys of my life! I once heard Mark Dever advise pastors to preach, pray, love, and stay. I think he was right!

Pro tip: find the nearest little church building with some New England charm, fill it up with the voices of the faithful and friends singing Christmas carols about our Savior, and proclaim the gospel to those who gather. 10/10. Would do again.

Sweet! Yeah, I think he’s the most clear writer of that time and I enjoy his Q&A style. He feels more timeless to me than others as well. Less distracted with sidebar discussions. You don’t have to get in a rhythm with him like you do (say with John Owen). He’s always insightful and his definitions are stellar.

I’ve read many systematic theologies. Of dead guys my favorite one-volume is hands down The Wonderful Works of God by Bavinck. My favorite multi-volume is easily Turretin’s Institutes of Elenctic Theology.
