@FelixTheOracle @P2WFantasy Exactly. Could easily be an Elijah Mitchell kind of fit. He runs hard even when the play doesn’t work. The receiving angle from elitedrafters will likely be wrong but Black could have RB2 value on rushing. 49ers wrong on draft process but right on eval would be funny.

Yesterday's thread on slot receivers generated a lot of great discussion. The most poignant criticism by far: my slot rate aggregations were incorrect. They've been corrected, now using snaps to directly calculate career slot% instead of using a game-weighted average. The analysis, however, hasn't changed.

RAS is a nice tool. Julio is also a 10.00 with the same drills only. He stays a 10.00 adding bench and 3 cone until the above average shuttle dings him 0.02. Arguing Caldwell is more athletic than Julio Jones absent evidence is a tough sell.

His teammate Cyrus Allen did all the drills at the Cincy pro day and scored pretty well in bench/3cone/shuttle. Caldwell, who didn't get drafted in part due to stopping and turning concerns in his routes, decided to skip the drills that help test these skills.

The problem with Jeff Caldwell's RAS score being 10.00 is that he didn't test 3 cone, shuttle, or bench. Calvin Johnson, the previous WR RAS 10.00, also didn't test these. Poor testing here can cost half a point or so, DK also is a 10.00 if you remove his 3cone/shuttle.

@JoshTimmTakes @ErikLambert1 The problem for the Bengals wasn’t the strategy- it was right. It was their evals. Bengals could have taken Byron Young or Kobie Turner both big time sack guys- that helped the Rams be contenders. Roush can be a TE2 one day BUT we waste this years SB window bc of it.

Everybody reacted the same way when Sam Roush was drafted. Why would the #Bears draft a blocking tight end in the 3rd round? Two practices into his young career, some are starting to realize that such a knee-jerk reaction may have been a mistake. (1/2)

@MathBomb Do you really think if Caldwell could turn or start/stop he wouldn’t have done them? The guy didn’t get drafted in large part because his film showed he can’t do either. But your formula is assuming he’s good in these despite no measurement.

Something I missed due to all those site issues was that Jeff Caldwell's average, which was below Calvin's the last time I checked, actually ticked up and PAST the long standing 10.00 RAS wide receiver! We ended up with a new top score at WR, didn't see that coming!

@MrGrizzly85 @ErikLambert1 We will see. I remember an article from 2023 where the Bengals GM said they wanted LaPorta but didn’t want to reach. They took EDGE Myles Murphy for need instead. There are 10million reasons Roush can potentially be TE2 by next year.

@ErikLambert1 Bears not getting an edge was a mistake. Even if Roush is good he will be on the field somewhere between 8% and 30% at most. Bears should have moved up in rd2 & given up a 3rd to get Young or 4 to get Jacus. Fans fall in ❤️ w/ their player. I like them too. But it was a miss.

@Arrowhead_Adam This is an indictment of the RAS scoring process. Caldwell didn’t test in his 3 worst metrics which happen to be turning and stop start ability. DK and Julio are more athletic using RAS with the same parameters plus they each have additional elite tested metrics

How raw do you have to be as a route technician to be the greatest specimen ever to play the position and go undrafted? Megatron went 2nd overall with this athletic profile. On that note, the UDFA WRs who typically hit are route technicians. Doug Baldwin and Adam Thielen types.

@MathBomb @mongoose0221 @diarchtct DK is more athletic than Caldwell. We know this because he has a better RAS score than Caldwell for the metrics they both tested on plus an elite bench. The current RAS scoring gives the top score to a guy with 3 missing metrics - 2 of these which cost DK .34 pts.
