As a physician, championing for my patients, following NCCN guidelines, I get a rejection from OSCAR insurance company for ISRT (Involved Site Radiotherapy) for lymphoma. When I ask for peer to peer, the only time they have available is at 8:30 PM!.. wow. IS THIS FAIR ?

@RonaldChenMD @UHC I’ve had some truly horrifying denials from UHC. I’ve gotten the same RadOnc peer reviewer more than once who has told me “It doesn’t matter what the evidence says. It’s not in the UHC policy. If they wanted different treatment they should have picked different insurance.”

Shameful! @UHC denies IMRT for SCLC. This is recommended by NCCN as preferred over 3D. P2P says agree with IMRT but not authorized to approve. Level 1 appeal denied without seeing comparison plan. Delaying tx for pt with aggressive cancer!! @UHC harming patients. #fixpriorauth

@SprakerMDPhD Your focus on those topics is not lost and definitely appreciated. I think the focus on job market, future earnings, physician supply has drowned out a lot of these other topics in a lot of forums.

@Josh_Waka Why instead of? I see people talking about all those things. Our group has been doing a lot of podcasts related to supervision, policy, and MD experience around rural sites. I find it really odd that people want to suppress discussions of the oncology training and workforce.

Super fun to watch physicians in virtually every field discuss and study their training and workforce. Meanwhile, #RadOnc is prohibited from improving our field by a small group of conflicted and threatening leaders. It can't be like this forever...
