@RichardLNewby3 Saw the source. Not surprised. But what an awful take. Man who was recognized as best of the best in his field last year wants fair pay. Sounds good to me!

True or not, the tone here sucks. As does the very obvious reason why it’s being reported and framed this way. And in terms of the asking price for leads in Hollywood (Oscar or not) this is still well below other stars.

@SheaSerrano This movie was a legit surprise. Maybe one of the last now that takes are everywhere. Went in knowing nothing when it came out on home media just that the concept sounded interesting. And then it blew me away.

@bportnoy15 Called out student media and that reporters don’t get paid enough. Hang the banner!

Really cool moment tonight postgame after VCU upset UNC. VCU head coach Phil Martelli Jr. made a point to shoutout the student reporters that made the trip. Lots of great stuff this time of year, but this was a really awesome, genuine exchange.

@JoshuaKGordon I think the NIL/portal era has brought us into a chalky world at the top, as last year showed us. Hope I'm wrong though.

What do you all think of the trailer for Martin McDonagh’s WILD HORSE NINE starring John Malkovich, Sam Rockwell, Steve Buscemi, Mariana di Girólamo, Ailín Salas, Tom Waits & Parker Posey? In theaters this fall from @searchlightpics #FilmTwitter #FilmTwt

@AtoZ_Payton Man I may be old but this is such a weird marketing maneuver. It irritates me, not make me eagerly anticipate.

19 years ago, a high school basketball coach put his team manager into a game for the final four minutes. The kid had never played a single minute of competitive basketball in his life. He scored 20 points. Jason McElwain was diagnosed with severe autism at age two. He didn’t speak until he was five. He couldn’t chew solid food until he was six. He wore a nappy for most of his early childhood. As a baby, he was rigid, wouldn’t make eye contact, and hid in corners away from other children. He tried out for his school basketball team every year and got cut every time. Too small. Too slight. Barely 5’6 and about 54 kilograms. But he loved the game so much that his mum called the school and asked if there was any way he could be involved. The coach created a team manager role for him. For three years, McElwain showed up to every practice and every game. He wore a shirt and tie on match days. He ran drills, handed out water, kept stats, and cheered every basket like he’d scored it himself. On 15 February 2006, the last home game of his final school year, the coach let him suit up in a proper jersey and sit on the bench. With four minutes left and a comfortable lead, the coach sent him in. His first shot missed. His second missed. Then something shifted. He hit a three-pointer. Then another. Then another. His teammates stopped shooting entirely and just kept passing him the ball. He hit six three-pointers and a two-pointer. 20 points in four minutes. The highest scorer in the game. When the final buzzer went, the entire crowd rushed the court and lifted him onto their shoulders. His mum tapped the coach on the shoulder, in tears. “This is the nicest gift you could have ever given my son.” McElwain won the ESPY Award for Best Moment in Sports that year, beating out some of the biggest names in professional sport. He’s 36 now. He works at a local supermarket, coaches basketball, has run 17 marathons including five Boston Marathons, and travels the country speaking about never giving up. When asked about that night, his coach still gets emotional. “For him to come in and seize the moment like he did was certainly more than I ever expected. I was an emotional wreck.”

@OsheaJacksonJr @ByClaytonDavis It was downplayed all season. I truly don’t get it. MBJ is fantastic in everything but especially Sinners. Like I really enjoyed the crazy portrayals of Timmy and Leo, too, but you don’t have to go that unhinged to be among the best.

@AKlay19 I’m 2 for 4. I’m a big Beau is Afraid fan but Oppeheimer was a close second. And Dune Part 2 didn’t win last year.

@Peter_Bukowski Top 2 movies of the year for me (with Sentimental Value a close third). Hard for me to draw a line for what’s better. So I’m pretty happy tonight.

I'm happy for all the film bros who loved One Battle After Another, but it's hard to articulate how much more I liked Sinners. I was levitating leaving the theater. And I'm not a horror/monster movie guy (not opposed either, just not my thing)

With Marty Supreme getting goose-egged, Sinners missing Casting, and Secret Agent missing International Feature, very curious about where Lead Actor is headed...

Here’s your frustrating annual reminder that the Oscar for Best International Feature is awarded to the film’s country, NOT the filmmakers. So Joachim Trier isn’t *technically* an Oscar winner, but Norway is. An absurd technicality that the Academy needs to fix. #Oscars
