@Sitaux i dont understand the tie break rules. In my opionen its a bad structur, if a player gets a Benefit from losing. Therefore i like an opening match, and then a winner and a Elimination win. This would have led to the same placements in 3 groups (not in Group B). good statement

Hello everyone, Now that Warlords IV is over, I wanted to make this post to share my point of view regarding the group stage drama I was involved in. I feel that I owe part of the community an explanation, and I also want to prevent people from believing rumors that could harm my reputation. First, let me explain the context: The Warlords IV group stage used a questionable format. Typically, tiebreakers are determined in this order: 1) Number of games won 2) Head-to-head winner This time, the tiebreakers were reversed meaning the head-to-head result was prioritized over the number of games won. This change meant that many matches became irrelevant and group standings were often decided very early, leading to unfair situations for several players. I’ll focus on the issue in my group. In my match against Vinchester, the outcome (regardless of score) determined who would face Hera in the quarterfinals and who would face TaToH. Winning the match meant a significantly lower chance of progressing further (against Hera) in the tournament, while losing had no negative consequences. This problem was due to the reversed tiebreaker system mentioned above. This issue was known from the start of the group stage but wasn’t changed for reasons we can’t judge as non organizers. It was simply how things were set, and at that point, no one was to blame. I assume the organizers did their best to ensure the tournament was as smooth as possible. As a result, the community began suspecting that both Vinchester and I might not try our best even before the match started which happened as I did not play the match seriously because I had no motivation to win, and I chose to use it as an opportunity to train. Here is my 100% honest perspective on that match: My plan was to play in a relaxed way and try out strategies I had considered but wasn’t planning to use myself, strategies that might work in theory but weren’t optimal without practice. In Games 2 and 3, my strategies had potential but were unprepared, and Vinchester rcorrectly punished them. Game 1: I played very relaxed. I wanted to go for a fast castle into Steppe Lancers on Arabia but turned into a slow, poorly executed defensive feudal boom. Arabia wasn’t a good map to test strategies. The game felt pointless. I lost, and honestly, I felt Vinchester wasn’t playing too seriously either. I played horribly it was clear I wasn’t doing what was optimal, just what I felt like doing. That clearly wasn’t the right approach. Game 2: I did a m@a rush on a hybrid map into Jian Swordmen. It’s a common strategy, but I hadn’t prepared it in advance. Some unfortunate things happened, like getting my m@a trapped and a siege tower bug. This made it look like I was trolling. But making a siege tower against stone walls with infantry is legitimate, it wasn’t a throw. The Jian Swordsmen were released into his trap unintentionally. I wanted to drop them inside his base, not realizing it was open (which isn’t always easy to see in-game) and the "thanks DE" moment happened. It was an unfortunate situation. I wasn’t upset about it since the match outcome didn’t matter to me, but it wasn’t an intentional throw. My execution was the best I could manage given my lack of motivation. Game 3: I went for a Town Center (TC) rush, which many people viewed as obvious trolling. It wasn’t. TC rush is actually a decent strategy on chaotic maps. Again, I won’t deny I didn’t pick it to win, but rather to experiment and put on a somewhat entertaining show. A loud part of the community found my approach to the match disrespectful, shameful, and more. I want to thank those who remained respectful toward the organization and myself during this situation. I wish I had been able to meet the community's expectations better during that set. The situation escalated far more than I anticipated for many reasons. Some people were misinformed, some were disappointed, some followed influencers' opinions without context, and some were simply happy to have a drama. I didn’t expect positive feedback from my performance and, truthfully, didn’t feel I deserved it either even though I don’t believe I’m responsible for the situation. What I didn’t expect, though, was the level of hate I received especially in private messages across multiple social platforms. As the situation became toxic quickly, I admit I got disappointed by a part of the community, especially some influencers who spreaded baseless rumors that could have seriously damaged me. To give you an example on how ridiculous rumors can be I got accused of using a smurf account on twitter to trashtalk TaToH and Daut because people saw i deleted a comment which meant to them that I "accidently posted from my main account and realized it". This rumor was spreaded in some very popular streams from a part of our community, people believed it even if it made 0 sense. To help people understand my perspective and to prevent this kind of situation from happening again, I want to lay out the facts clearly: - This match was a lose-lose situation for both Vinchester and me. - I was unhappy going into the match, it felt awkward from the start. - This is far from being the first time a player doesn't play his best because of a match not being important - I’m a full-time player thinking about my long-term interests in the tournament and every set matter in my tournament interest, to either play my best to win when it's needed or hide strats. - Admins were aware that losing was actually the better result for both players. - Expecting players to go all-in for the winwhen there’s nothing to gain and when losing is actually the better outcome is unrealistic. - No matter what happened, one of us was going to be blamed. -I acknowledge that I didn’t do the right thing in this tricky situation. - Someone was going to get blamed regardless. - The organization handled the in-game chat toxicity in a very professional way. I just wished they would have taken some responsability to help de-escalate the situation. - The match result didn’t impact anyone except Vinchester and me. - Vinchester was the one who would’ve had a legitimate reason to complain. - Vinchester saved the match from being even more controversial by playing far better than I did. I thank him for that. - Some people simply enjoy drama, and parts of the community amplified this far more than necessary. - Before expressing extreme opinions online, try to imagine yourself in the player’s position. - For the sake of my reputation, I should have shown more motivation even if it was fake while still prioritizing my interests. -Influencers have a strong impact on public opinion. If you are one, please provide context or at least some explanation before sharing extreme views. -As an influencer, you're partly responsible for how your community behaves. If there's toxicity in your posts or streams, it's your responsibility to moderate it. You are your fans influence. -I shouldn’t have responded to some posts. I should’ve let people talk. -When I participate in an S-tier tournament, I’m not there as an entertainer, I’m there as a competitor. If people expect players to prioritize entertainment over personal goals, then viewers should fund those expectations. Players would need to be paid for every match, win or lose. -Everyone is entitled to their opinion, as long as it's respectful. We can disagree and still learn from it to improve future events. -Spamming hateful private messages on many platforms is harassment and immediately discredits your opinion. -We are a small community so any comment can snowball and damage someone’s reputation significantly. -Events are meant to be enjoyable. Spamming hateful messages in the main stream chat is like smoking in a non-smoking area, it ruins the experience for everyone. This message wasn't an apology or a blame so please don't hate on anyone. I wanted to post it so you guys can understand my side of the story so I can hopefully keep a good reputation in my aoe career.
