Elizabeth’s father Jason Struhs, 52, and the religious group’s leader Brendan Stevens, 62, have been charged with murder. The girl's mother, Kerrie Struhs, 49, brother Zachary Struhs, 21 and ten others are accused of manslaughter.

All 14 members of an Australian religious group charged over the 2022 death of Elizabeth Struhs have opted to enter no plea as their trial begins in Brisbane. The court directed a not guilty plea should be entered for all defendants.

Remember all these figures can only be estimated. Nobody is close to being able to verify them at this stage. Access to the area is incredibly difficult. Rescue equipment can't get through. So while it's clear this is a terrible disaster, an accurate death toll is some way off.

Papua New Guinea now says that 2,000 people were "buried alive" in Friday's landslide in Engas province. It has made the estimate in a letter to the @UN seen by the BBC. Earlier estimates put the death toll at around 670.
