Dear Hot Cross Bun makers…
STOP FAFFING ABOUT WITH THEM!!
I don’t want orange zest and cranberry chunks, or cherry liqueur and dark chocolate flakes… just gimme a good old fashioned HCB with none of that fancy faff!!!
Thank you
Cuthbert Gordon Greenidge 🇧🇧
At the age of 21 on the cusp of becoming one of the greatest opening batsmen of all-time with Hampshire & the West Indies.
And one of the more difficult autographs to get.
Why are pensioners who receive less than the minimum wage, having to pay income tax ? Isn't it time to unfreeze the tax free allowance and set it to at least £20k. . .?
Today’s #memory#tvadvert , whatever happened to these little guys? Can’t remember what they were called . What other adverts had instantly recognisable characters like this and are now gone ?? Bring them back I say !!! #monday
That photo just brings back so many memories💙
My grandad had a bottle in the little drawer next to the kitchen sink, just inside the back door, where he shaved, in his vest, with a proper brush & lather.
I used to watch him💙
I can smell it now, it smelt absolutely amazing👊👌👏
Remembering Mike Hailwood, good in cars & mighty on bikes, who died on his way to buy fish ’n’ chips #OnThisDay 45 years ago, aged 40, as a result of a road-car crash caused by a careless lorry driver, as did his daughter, aged 9. He’s one of motorsport’s all-time heroes.
Anyway..
I somehow managed to come home from Cheshire yesterday with an egg custard and a pack of fruity oatcake/pikelet thingys 👍👍
The custard went last night with a brew, it was amazing, the oatcakes will be a couple of brekkies for us in the week👊
They don’t make haircuts like this anymore, but, then, perhaps they don’t make cricketers like Ray Illingworth anymore either.
Illimgworth led England to an Ashes victory in Australia in 1970-71, and then retained the urn at home in 1972.
A tough Yorkshireman and an all-rounder, Illingworth was known to be an excellent man-manager who could get the best out of even the most difficult characters.
Success came not only with England but, in exile from Yorkshire, in county cricket with Leicestershire, where as captain in the early 70s he turned an over-relaxed, unambitious side into a trophy-winning outfit.
Do you have any memories of him?
Don't miss David Lean's excellent comedy Hobson's Choice (1954) @TalkingPicsTV 4.35pm this afternoon. It stars Charles Laughton, Brenda de Branzie, John Mills, Daphne Anderson, Prunella Scales and Richard Wattis. #DavidLean#CharlesLaughton
John Edrich seems to be another star of English cricket whose legacy isn’t as valued as it should be.
Despite looking 55 for most of his career, he was amongst the best players of his generation, playing 77 Tests, averaging 43.54 and scoring a triple century against NZ in 1965.
Lillee reckoned Edrich one of the hardest men to remove in world cricket.
Who remembers the actor Dino Shafeek? He was probably best known for playing Chai Wallah Muhammed in "It Ain't Half Hot Mum" (1974–1981) and Ali Nadim in "Mind Your Language" (1977–1979). Sadly, he died of a heart attack in 1984.
Fyvie Castle in Aberdeenshire was the warmest place in the UK, reaching 20.2C.
This also makes it Scotland's warmest day of the year so far.
Here is the warmest place in each nation.
@johnfielding001 There are numerous former villages lost to the sea from Spurn Point all the way up the Holderness coast. The coast up here disappears by metres every year.
Easton Bavents, Suffolk, where the North Sea has erased a once-thriving medieval village. In the 12th–14th centuries it had its own church, manor and population, but relentless coastal erosion destroyed most of the settlement by the 17th century. Today only farmland remains along this rapidly retreating shoreline. #Suffolk#CoastalErosion#aerial
