When I vote I don't want unaffordable tax cuts. I want hospital beds. Libraries reopening. Trains that run on time. Kids who aren't too hungry to learn. Rivers that don't run with slurry. Local councils not bankrupted. Politicians who don't venally line their own pockets.

I'm not sure why but this filled me with emotion. Just I guess a moment of silly loveliness desperately needed.

Today marks the start of Refugee Week. This morning Mayor, Cllr Owen Collins and Leader of the Council, Cllr Ruth Smith raised the striking orange and black Refugee Flag on the Town Hall. Witney has a proud history of supporting those displaced by conflict or persecution.
