This is the only metric that matters in determining who is "winning" and "losing" the war. If this chart looks like this for another couple weeks, physics + financial leverage make it a certainty that global equity and bond markets will be smoking craters.

@oprydai Freaking awesome. Once you stamp a “research” sign on any basic piece of equipment price shoots up by thousands of dollars

modern research equipment is absurdly expensive. • a lab power supply • a microscope • a 3d printer • a spectrometer each can cost thousands of dollars. but most of these machines are just combinations of: • motors • sensors • microcontrollers • mechanical frames • software open-source lab by joshua m. pearce shows how researchers are rebuilding scientific tools using open hardware. > 3d printers instead of $50k lab machines > arduino-based instruments > open designs anyone can replicate result: • research costs drop by orders of magnitude • labs become accessible to anyone • innovation moves faster the future lab will not be purchased. it will be built.

Don’t have a lab but want to test your ideas? Want to run your experiments at high scale? Need some extra lab capacity? Ginkgo Cloud Labs is open for businesses! Looking for more info? I’m your guy!
Jason Kelly@jrkelly

Excited to launch the @Ginkgo Cloud Lab service today! Recently, GPT-5 ordered experiments from Ginkgo's autonomous lab in our work with @OpenAI below -- now we're making our lab available to users (or their AI models) in the cloud to order lab experiments and get back data online. Play around with it now! You can ask our agent about your protocol and it will do its best to evaluate if we can run it and what it would cost. cloud.ginkgo.bio/protocols To start we've launched 3 Ginkgo Certified Protocols, two around cell free protein expression and one to make bacterial pixel art 😀 We will be adding new protocols weekly -- at first ones we certify, but eventually users will order whatever experiment they want as long as we have the needed equipment on our autonomous lab! We hope that Cloud Labs will someday allow anyone to be a scientist with their own lab just like personal computers and cloud data centers democratized programming and the web. More in thread 🧵and happy to answers Qs if you post!

@Jaywayne__ @usmanmunara We need tissue biobanks. Human patient data and improved human models if we can. This is one side of the problem. The other is how we screen our drugs and make our proteins. The mechanism is flawed. There are a ton of issues at the drug discovery level.

@Jaywayne__ @usmanmunara This is mainly a human problem and an anthropomorphizong issue. We do it to disease. Let’s say gene x cause hair loss in humans. It’s mouse equivalent causes tumors. The gene pathways involved are not the same. The treatment will not be the same.

@doctorveera @gen0m1cs This is such a cool study. Cholinergic receptors in general are quite fascinating. Studied them in grad school. Was interested in their diversity, differential expression, and sexual dimorphism in regulating emotion and food intake in the amygdala.

Excited to share one of my favorite genetic discoveries made at the Regeneron Genetics Center. We went looking for genetic clues about why some people smoke more than others and found something in an unexpected place: the genomes of Indigenous Mexicans. 1/

In less than 24 hours the FAA placed and then lifted a temporary closure at El Paso International Airport. Enigma skywatchers had already begun reporting what they saw, even hours before the closure was announced. See one report below⬇️ Explore more in our Collection: enigmalabs.io/collection/181…

The U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) issued a Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) Wednesday morning entirely closing the airspace over the Western Texas city of El Paso for the next ten days, citing “special security reasons,” while classifying a large area over both El Paso and the neighboring community of Santa Teresa, New Mexico as “national defense airspace” under the control of the Defense Department. All flights in and out of El Paso International Airport and nearby regional airports have been canceled or grounded, with even medical evacuation flights being restricted, as local authorities and military officials state that they have received no information regarding the NOTAM. Such an airspace closure over a major city in the United States is unprecedented, with the last time such a restriction like this was issued occurring after September 11, 2001.
