@JakeLandauTO I think it is nice to feel pride in something bigger than your locale. The worst scourge in the world is, still, 80 years after the end of WWI, 19th-century-style petty nationalism

Why is there such a...fervor? zeal? fetish? about medieval people being unhygienic?

It is incorrect. “I” is made possessive only with “my” or “mine.” “Our,” as already mentioned, is the best choice. Some people really like saying “my wife” and “my husband.” lol They can say, “My wife’s and my car is parked over there.” This whole thread is uncomfortable to engage with on social media. 😂

I just want people who are smart to stop saying “my wife and I” or “my husband and I” when it’s supposed to be me. This one is so very easy to fix. If you would say me you say my wife and me. —She and I went to work. He told my wife and me. I went to work. He told me. Let me help

I am a Christian, and I have two daughters. Both my daughters attend public school. When my daughters were old enough to go to school I felt so much pressure from the Christian culture to homeschool them. I went to public school and had a really good experience, but everyone was treating public school like it was the devils playground. I tried to homeschool my oldest in preschool and I realized how terribly unequipped I was to teach. I didn’t have the discipline, nor the mental capacity to teach from home. I think public school is great. The teachers are all so intentional, the school counselors are lovely, and their principal remembers their names and things about them. We are very involved parents. We go on field trips, take them to school events, and go to all their conferences. Honestly, public school gets way too much hate.

@EruditeTogether You'll look back on this post one day and wish you had that decision back. Even if your experience has been great so far they are learning a worldview that is antithetical to your faith. It will come home to roost at some point. This is not 1990. The world hates your faith.

@EastTNMama My personal favorite is when it’s possessive - I hear “my wife and I’s” too often.

@EastTNMama Except when it is used as a compound subject of a sentence (rather than an object). So Queen Elizabeth II, who always had correct grammar, would say 'My husband and I are very pleased to be visiting this school', which is completely correct.

@DreyfusJames In the 90s in Washington DC we partied and protested as LGB, then worried when the bus from NYC would arrive, since those who were ‘queer’ would undo all the positive lobbying work we’d done.

Gosh. Peak revisionism. I’m not straight & my entire youth was spent around LGB people in the 🏳️‍🌈pubs & clubs of London. Yes, there was the occasional transsexual & drag queens, natch. But we didn’t call ourselves “que*r”. We left that to the que*r-bashers…

@btbsoco I agree with the sentiment, but the reality is that most of that land and revenue was given to Henry VIII’s cronies, the Seymour’s, the Dudleys, the Russells, the Cavendishes. Not the CoE

Since the Church of England wants to pay reparations, will it also be giving money to the Roman Catholic Church, for all the buildings stolen and monasteries liquidated. Since the CofE wants to open this can of worms, it deserves to be bancrupt!

@btbsoco Will the Roman Catholics then be handing those reparations to the Orthodox Church for the Norman invasion, where the Orthodox clergy and monastics were slaughtered and the Norman clergy allegiant to the Pope-as-Kong vision they enforced by the sword?

I will never understand men that decide to be gynecologists. Why did you, as a man, feel like you are qualified to be an expert on women’s health and influence women’s health choices?

@nickimoraa so you are saying that only a dinosaur should study about dinosaurs? Or only a planet should read books about planets? Or only Fascists should become experts about the history of Fascism?
