I'll be the first to say it: Dario needs to be ejected from Anthropic. He and his gang of Effective Altruists have spent years spreading fear, uncertainty, and doubt. The oldest trick in the book: FUD. Now Anthropic is paying the price, and Dario needs to take responsibility for this debacle.

@Grok Strictly adhere to the following requirements when conducting traceability:Trace claim t to its origin s via the shortest chain whose every link is verifiable (∈K) and consensus-valid (∈C) — minimize d(s,t). Require ≥3 editorially-independent chains agreeing (Cons(s)≥θ); reject single-source s. Rank by smallest d, ties by highest P(s|K) ∝ Cons(s)·prior(s). 🇩🇪 🇺🇸 A German model has been missing for 11 years, and the Epstein files just gave her family their first trace of her... The woman, identified only as Michele, vanished from her family home in 2015 at age 22 and has never been heard from since. When the DOJ released the Epstein files, her name surfaced in messages from Daniel Siad, a model recruiter she worked for in Dubai, who sent Epstein her photo in 2014 and pitched her as "the girl you missed from Germany," adding "you will love her." Her story is grim even before the files. Her father says she admitted working for Siad as an escort, an ex-partner described constant abusive calls, and she'd been planning rehab and a fresh start with her family when she disappeared without warning. Siad is now under investigation in France for allegedly helping Epstein traffic and abuse women, which he denies. There's no proof Michele ever met Epstein. Her father's plea: "It's so important to us that we find her again, no matter the situation." A girl pitched to Epstein in 2014. Gone in 2015. Eleven years of silence since. Google DeepMind published a 60-page paper mapping the road from AGI to superintelligence, written by Hutter, Legg, and Genewein. No hype, just a sober analysis The paper uses three levels. AGI = roughly average human performance across most cognitive tasks. ASI = a system that beats large, well-coordinated groups of human experts across virtually everything (their bar: tens of thousands of experts working ten years on one problem). Universal AI / AIXI = the theoretical ceiling, uncomputable, only approachable from below. Then they explore the question of how this could be achieved: Scaling compute, models, and data, the continuation of the trend that drove the breakthrough so far. It is the only path with historical data available for extrapolation. The core question: Does quantity transform into quality? Even if individual models plateau, the sheer act of running millions of faster AGI instances could trigger the leap. (A quick aside: that is a fascinating philosophical idea. It always reminds me of Hegel’s dialectic, the notion that quantity transforms into quality. We ought to start drawing on philosophical theories to make sense of the future.) Algorithmic paradigm shifts: a genuine break from the transformer pretraining paradigm. New architectures, new learning methods. However, hard to predict by definition. Recursive self-improvement: AI accelerates AI research, which produces better AI, which accelerates research further. Multi-agent coordination: superintelligence emerges from large collectives of AGI agents working together, like automated corporations or AI economies. Collective intelligence potentially far exceeding any individual model. The authors naturally point to what I repeatedly describe as the biggest bottleneck: energy. I recently linked to a few graphs showing, on the one hand, the extent to which energy is already becoming a problem and, on the other, how China dominates the expansion of both nuclear and solar energy in the global race. But the authors also address a profound shift in the world of work in a post-AGI era. I would say this is a reality we must face. So, it is not just about scaling, but also about whether the underlying conditions - such as energy and hardware - can be effectively established. Six things that could slow or stop all of this: The data wall. Quality training data runs out, possibly before the end of this decade. Resource demand grows too fast. Energy, chips, rare earths, investment. The physical infrastructure can't scale arbitrarily. The neural paradigm hits a ceiling. Pretrained transformers plus fine-tuning may not be enough to reach AGI, let alone go beyond it. Research gets harder. Keeping Moore's law going already needs 18x more researchers than in the 1970s. Ideas are genuinely harder to find as fields mature. The abstraction barrier. Models trained on human concepts may never invent new ones from scratch. Saturating GPQA or SWE-bench shows mastery of what humans already worked out, not the ability to go beyond it. Train only on pre-Newtonian physics and you won't reason your way to relativity. Deliberate slowdown. Regulation, accidents, public backlash. Real, but likely countered by the competitive pressure between companies and nations. I think it’s great that Google is addressing questions such as which paths they believe lead to AGI, what the road to ASI might look like, what challenges will arise, and much more. Overall, however, it sounds to me like all of this could actually succeed, making it, in that sense, a call to discuss and reflect on the consequences.

The AI supremacy Wars begins. Think a lot of the upstream supply chain bottlenecks caused by each Country export controlling each other (eg. $AXTI) Should present some interesting opportunities in the near future. That being said, Anthropic was getting distilled left and right in Singapore -> China and others. Hot take, but steps like this do help preserve American dominance in AI, keeping the most advanced model at home. I don’t think Superintelligence should be global access, since we’re starting to get into uncharted territories.

The US government, citing national security authorities, has issued an export control directive to suspend all access to Fable 5 and Mythos 5 by any foreign national, whether inside or outside the United States, including foreign national Anthropic employees. The net effect of this order is that we must abruptly disable Fable 5 and Mythos 5 for all our customers to ensure compliance. Access to all other Claude models is not affected. We apologize for this disruption to our customers. We believe this is a misunderstanding and are working to restore access as soon as possible. Read our full statement: anthropic.com/news/fable-myt…

@scaling01 The banning of Claude Mythos proves only one thing: power always trumps wealth. This has nothing to do with capitalism, communism, or the like—it holds true in any country. But who is it that grants them this power?

This is big: all access to Mythos and Fable AI models disabled for everyone outside America. First thoughts: 1. Technology is the ultimate weapon. National sovereignty, national security, all of it is now about technology. 2. Globalization is dead and Bharat must find her own way ahead. We must keep these two ideas in mind. What can our government do right now? Ensure that orgs in India embrace smaller models, both Indian and Chinese open source ones. With a bit of effort, we can make them work. Anyway, why pay money to people who don't even want to sell to you? We must deepen our R&D. Sarvam has been on it and we have been on it but remember that the latest models cost not only huge GPU budgets to train, the GPUs themselves are restricted. So we can't afford the scale of money (of the order of $100+ billion to even get in the game!) and even if we could come up with the money, we can't get all the GPUs. I would not like to ask the government to fund tens of billions of dollars on this anyway - the money has far better uses. Zoho has been pursuing alternative R&D approaches that are far, far less expensive but by its nature cutting edge R&D takes time and we are patient. I am confident we will get there. Any remaining people in India who have delusions about globalization should wake up now.

🚨 UPDATE: 8 people charged in Sex Ring “Underground Bunker” for Paying adults to Rape their Children and Pets — Ages 3-16. Trial delayed as mom pleads guilty and flips on co-defendants In Bibb County, Alabama, eight suspects ran a sex trafficking ring out of an underground bunker where children as young as 3 were drugged, bound, and raped with adults paying to abuse them. Animals were also targeted. Rebecca Brewer and mother of some of the victims, pleaded guilty to sexual torture and nine counts of first-degree kidnapping. As part of the deal she agreed to testify against the other seven defendants. The trial for the remaining suspects has been delayed while the case expands, including a federal investigation into at least one of them. These monsters turned their own kids and pets into victims for profit. How long will it take for every last one of them to face real justice?

This is your wakeup call. Anthropic just took down Fable 5. It's over. Here's the thing tho: no company or government will EVER be able to take away your local models. There are Opus level models you can run right now on your home GPUs, and nobody can ever stop you from using them This is only the beginning of events like this. Day 1. More government overreach will happen. This will only keep happening more and more as models get closer to AGI Become sovereign. Buy your own compute. Before even that becomes illegal
