Mark Price is considered one of the best players of the 90s. From 88-95 he was a 4 time mvp candidate, 4 time all nba including first team. At least top 13 in BPM for that entire stretch with 5 appearances in the top 10.
Many argue that his scoring and shooting made him a more potent player than Stockton.
But if you take Mark Prices’s highlights and put them next to players like CJ McCollum and Jason Terry, you see that they can do everything Mark can do and them some even though they have never made an all star game.
That’s how much better the modern era is than the 90s. Of course looking at highlights isn’t full fledged analysis, but it’s clear that a solid player in the modern game would be a star in that era.
@JuggernautBron Yea they play defense lol. Rudy golbert is a 4x dpoy. That in itself tells you no defense.
Look at the last 10 dpoy.
That era was about ball movement team plays not 1 ball handler playing iso
@specialkru17 Yeah I mean it’s not an insult to older players. They laid the ground work and they deserve credit for that just like the guys today deserve credit for taking the game to new heights.
@JuggernautBron Perhaps…. Players in subsequent eras are able to use moves from the previous era. Andrew wiggins dropped into 1960 is the greatest player of all time. No one is arguing that he should be one of the greatest ever because u compete against your contemporaries.
@ZiggESmallz I didn’t say that era didn’t play defense, they had weaker ball handlers. Also the whole idea that this era doesn’t play defense was is just a cope. They definitely play defense.
@JuggernautBron You're right. and Wemby is the goat though. He doesn't have to lead any teams anywhere. Players get better. The best modern player is the goat.
@JuggernautBron You said CJ McCollum and Jason Terry can do everything Mark Price could do. I dont remember Dwayne Wade having Tyrese Maxeys range. Wemby is the best player now. You didn't say anything about the extent to which Price made his team better.
@JuggernautBron We had people that calculated the exact size of the earth with a stick but wouldn't even know how to use Google if we put them in front of it today.
The people before use pioneered the future. Without them people wouldn't be doing what we have now.
@JuggernautBron They couldn't shoot play defense or set screen like price. Are you serious? Dude had tree trunks for legs and could run forever. He was never a mvp candidate like that
More to bball than dunk reels or bs fast lane 3s. 🗑 euro step bs Ole defense bs 🤣 youngins are you 20yo?
@JuggernautBron That’s called rule changes dummy. You weren’t allowed to travel ,carry, palm. They allowed defense and don’t cater to offense as they do in the current era. I hope this helps kid ,learn ball goofy
False.
1. Highlights ≠ equal impact.
You are as good as your impact in your era.
2. JT & CJ: zero ASG / All-NBA. Less impact w better stats.
3. Modern era enforces rules differently for more scoring. Not the same game.
4. Any player transported back would be under those rules, w that training and that style.
@JuggernautBron@Buckeye937B Also there’s plenty of reverse examples from that era to this we could do. Bottom line is Price did it on a consistent basis at a high level. The 2 players mentioned never ran a team at the PG spot like Price either
@JuggernautBron Neither of them could shoot like Mark nor split the screen like he did
I see what you’re saying but you’re selling Mark short a little bit
He was never a true mvp candidate either
And he only made one first team all nba not 4
@JuggernautBron “Four time MVP candidate” that never once received a 1st place vote and whose best finish was 7th?
Nobody said he’s better than Stockton…
Highlights aren’t analysis. Highlights make Shannon Brown look like the GOAT
