I totally missed the drama about the person who uploaded a video accusing like 67 authors of having AI covers and the video is gone now so I can't know if I was accused. 💀😅😅

@Darmin_che_ 7 in 5 months. Lost 5 won 1. 1 still ongoing. Wendie J Seary, Kelly Schuknecht, both marketing. Do it all myself now. Took the money did nothing. Reported to Upwork.

@SDDonovan So, seriously, am l using ai if l am using an app to format, spell and grammar check. Because I ticked the box yes, 10% as I create my own covers also. Being scammed cleaned me out. So do it myself

A small reminder. Using AI to write your books is like saying you're a master chef because you ordered takeout and plated it fancy. You're still not a chef, and you're still not an author.

@SDDonovan Good for you! I can't do romantic, fantasy or not. I put some romance in my books, but it feels too personal to make a whole book about it. I'm an introverted empath. That says it. Keep it private. I like my romance like Austen or the Brontes' wrote it.

Okay, I know what kind of book I want to write that I will eventually querry. Romantasy, yep I am going to try it. With a little spin on a classic Shakespeare play. The idea's slowly forming! There will be lots of magic.

@SDDonovan Yes, I went down that route for 5 years. Approached non agent Publishing Houses. You write well. Your story is catchy. But at the moment....

I have a question I am embarrassed to ask. How does querying work, exactly? What do I need? I have a few books upcoming I want to self publish, but I also want to write one to query. However, I have no idea how it works.

@SDDonovan What it is, being new myself. If you just post something, it goes straight to your profile, so you don't bother, no one sees it. You can only reply to be seen. I stopped doing it myself

I've been unfollowing inactive accounts and it made me sad. SO many authors who left X. Many posting daily, with never a single like. It's sad, man. Driven away by the algorithm. 🥺

@SDDonovan My beef on D2D is that being a debut author, waiting, waiting, for my link to paperback to post on website. They answer. We don't do that, do it yourself. I do self, covers, rear blurb, marketing, formatting, now l have to find the link to book shops. Nup. Not getting any more.

It seems like there hasn't been any drama in the writing community in a while. What's going on?

@SDDonovan Use Canvas (website) Search up photos you want/that represent the book and arrange them using a template on their website.

@SDDonovan After experiencing total loss of say to where my book was placed, priced, which was over the top, the lack of control didn't sit with me. Not a book sold . Indie all the way
