@myenergiuk I did thanks but they said the Zappi has just died & warranty is out at 3yrs. They offered to sell me a refurbished one for £500 with 1 yr warranty. If a new £1100 Zappi only lasts 4yrs, I dont think that is a good investment!

@myenergiuk really disappointed. My zappi failed at 4 yrs. no explanation why from @myenergiuk & poor customer service. £1100 wasted. Avoid zappi.

Lithuania’s capital is transforming itself into the “Amsterdam of the North”. “Between 2016 and 2024, Vilnius built 164 kilometres of Dutch-inspired, red asphalt cycle paths, and went from a 1.5 to 4.5% cycling modal share ... in two political terms.” theprogressplaybook.com/2024/10/23/chr…

You’ll barely notice, but this arterial road is intersected by several side streets. Rather than sinking humans down into the space of crossing cars, the foot and cycle paths are raised, continuous and prioritized—reducing driver entitlement. This should be standard everywhere.

@space4gosforth The best way to encourage uptake of walking & cycling is to make useable, safe infrastructure. The basics aren't even available in Newcastle. Many footpaths are inaccessible to wheelchair users because of parked cars !

Why not spend the £390m that A1 dualling would cost on improving walking and cycling routes in Northumberland? It would be more sustainable and better for health & the economy too.

In Dutch cities and towns, one of the features that first stands out to international visitors is the use of the continuous cycle path. Rather than treating humans as guests in the car space, the opposite occurs, and the cycle path is seamless by design. bicycledutch.wordpress.com/2022/06/29/ext…

Good news for pedestrians from @CityWestminster: a trial of side-road zebra crossings is underway. People on foot already have priority over vehicles at side roads, but these road markings will remind everyone of what it says in the Highway Code westminsterlabour.org.uk/issues/2024/09…

I was burgled in the early hours of yesterday morning in Gosforth (Newcastle). Among other things, they stole my very distinctive Riese & Müller e-cargo bike. Please share and let me know if you happen to come across it 🤞🚲 @rideelectricgo @space4gosforth @NewCycling @NclSocRide

@NewcastleCC has 90 primary schools and 29 secondary schools, 119 in total. And they've delivered just 4 school streets so far, or 3%. It's a shame @NewcastleCC didn't renew the @SustransNorth contract to deliver more #SchoolStreets. The school run isn't inevitable.

As schools return this week, your regular reminder that the London primary school run alone causes 480,000 car journeys per day... What does your school run look like this week? Let us know! #saferoutes #cleanair #schoolrun

What if every city had “Bike Buses” for kids going to school & daycare? What if safe, protected bike infrastructure made them easy? From Nijmegen NL, a #BikeBus developed in partnership with an after-school childcare. HT to great folks at @Cycling_Embassy

This mum used to watch her son 'struggle for breath'. After a year of Ulez, things are much better Toxic air contributes to around 4,000 premature deaths in London each year. But Ulez has reduced air pollution over the last year. ⁦⁦@MayorofLondonbigissue.com/news/environme…

The Netherlands🇳🇱 invests €595 million, or €35 per resident, annually in cycling infrastructure. Does it seem expensive? The average Dutch person travels 912 km annually, saving the health system 19 billion euros (3% of GDP).

While cities across the globe prepare their streets for autonomous vehicles, cities across the Netherlands build streets for autonomous children. The benefits extend far beyond mobility, increasing levels of physical, mental and social well-being against declining global trends.

“Paris trained its bike lane-building muscles during the Covid pandemic. The city estimates now there are half a million bike trips in Paris every day, making 11% of the city’s total, against around 5% in 2019.” It isn’t The Games. It’s the leadership. bloomberg.com/news/articles/…
