There's a few days left to send in your support for proposals to make Fenham Hall Drive a safer street for people walking and cycling. The consultation ends at 11:59pm on Sunday.

📢 The council is proposing changes to Fenham Hall Drive that could see the street becoming much safer for cycling.
✅ Proposals include 1.5km of protected cycle lane and better crossing points.

We contacted Newcatle Council with
@NewCycling to ask if the public realm around the new HMRC offices on New Bridge St would be as forward-thinking as the CGIs. We didn't receive a response. Now we learn that Blackett Street, 3 yrs on, remains "on pause".

Given the continual disregard for the traffic restrictions on Blackett Street by private vehicles and taxis, this would ensure the safety of pedestrians and allow people to enjoy the space around Grey’s Monument without fear of being run over.

It's been a busy day on the Tyne Bridge as it sees it's most efficient use of the year, with 60,000 people crossing in around two hours and road works to clear and reinstate to give the runners extra space. #GNR25

If it's an active worksite, then you should secure your site. If it's a cycle path, you need to ticket these cars. Please pick one.

The council have now opened this route. Thank you to those in the council and councillors for getting this fixed. The signs are still in place but can be ignored.
Let us know if you see issues like this wherever you cycle. It can be fixed!

Still no update on this unfortunately. Some Cyclists dismount signs have been quickly put up. This is discriminatory to those with mobility cycles and blocks larger cargo bikes. A safe diversion needs to be in place or the fencing moved.

This sort of thing should not happen on one of the main cycle routes towards the city centre.

Somebody has fenced off the main cycle route from Heaton to the city centre, with no warning and no diversion. It's possible to get though via the bin area of Shieldfield House then through a private car park back to the road. Councillors are aware and are try to sort it.
