The Jump$tart Teacher Training Alliance is established by Jump$tart, the Council for Economic Education, Junior Achievement, the National Endowment for Financial Education, and the University of Arizona, with support from the FDIC and the U.S. Departments of Education and Treasury. The goal is to create a standardized, content-based professional development model, later named Jump$tart Financial Foundations for Educators (J$FFE). In 2004, The Jump$tart Federal Legislator Award, later re-named the Federal Leadership Award, is established and presented to U.S. Senator Daniel K. Akaka (D-HI) and U.S. Rep. David Dreier (R-CA-26). The award recognizes federal leaders for using their platform to promote financial literacy. #FuelingFinancialEducation #JumpstartYourFinancialFuture

The first Financial Literacy Day on Capitol Hill is hosted by the Council for Economic Education, Junior Achievement, and the Jump$tart Coalition, in conjunction with the office of U.S. Senator Daniel K. Akaka (D-HI). Jump$tart eventually took charge of the event and now co-hosts it with NEFE, alternating between the House and Senate sides of the Capitol.

In 1999, Jump$tart’s first achievement award is presented to Bill Odom. The award is then renamed the William E. Odom Visionary Leadership Award and is still presented annually, each April. #FuelingFinancialEducation #JumpstartYourFinancialFuture
