@asphasichorses @JPunts97 What a load of nonsense - wouldn’t have laced Constitution Hill’s boots of a few years back. Stateman would have given her a good whalloping too

@JPunts97 Genuinely believe the Lossiemouth we’ve seen this season would wallop every 2 miler of the last 5 years

She is some mare Lossiemouth no denying it she’s made that look very easy like. I have always liked her I just wasn’t sure about her for a champion hurdle but she firmly put me in my place that day. Times like this I miss the boy state man though because he would genuinely eat this whole 2 mile hurdle division alive for fun. Think they need to try something different with anzadam too this holding up out the back doesn’t appear to suit him whatsoever.

Johnny de la Hey has said 🗣 "However, after a lot of thought, we have decided to make a change to our jump racing strategy by having our horses with several trainers. Hasn't he just moved them all to Dan Skelton’s? 😂

Superb piece from @tompeck who went out door-knocking with Wes Streeting in his constituency Streeting was withering about the Greens “Without traducing the entire Green Party and their activist base when I see some of the people who joined the Labour Party under Jeremy Corbyn, and have since left the Labour Party and joined the Greens, I feel a sense of relief “I feel sorry for the old, cuddly environmentalists who are now overrun with a bunch of people who made the Labour Party unelectable, who’ll be delighted that Zack Polanski would happily pull us out of Nato and they’ll make every excuse under the sun to defend the indefensible.” And here he is on the independents: “We’re voting for Redbridge council, not the UN security council. Who you choose to run your local council matters and the Redbridge independents represent a divisive brand of sectarian politics. I don’t want to see Redbridge becoming a basket case or a rotten borough like Tower Hamlets.” thetimes.com/uk/politics/ar…

@peterathbone13 Yep I agree- but those lbs quickly disappear on soft ground. Tellherthename is significantly worse and tutti Quanti is significantly better. Not much we can do now other than hope Tellherthename has enough in hand to get the job done

@JumpsLeagues Hopefully they’ll have some fresh ground for Saturdays racing and it’s the first hurdle race on the card. 18lb is a lot for TQ to concede. As dominant as he was at Newbury, a 13lb hike is a fair bit.

No Khrisma. 10 go to post. Harry Skelton rides Tellherthename with Kielan Woods presumably still injured. Hopefully it doesn’t rain too much between now and Saturday. Currently soft / good to soft in places with a dry day today. Showers expected tomorrow and race day.
Pete Rathbone@peterathbone13

Backed Tellherthename Scottish Champion Hurdle - 10/1. The Mighty Celt and Charlus the only other Skelton entries. You’d think Kateira and Sinnatra would be his Aintree horses with owners having Wreckless Eric for there. Khrisma strong opposition but could go elsewhere.

@peterathbone13 Exactly - suddenly brings Tutti right into it. It’s soft already so hope it doesn’t get worse than that. What’s worrying is the rain tomorrow whilst they’re racing. Will really open the ground up

@JumpsLeagues Think the dry spell today and wind should hopefully ensure no worse than soft. Shouldn’t be unsuitable to actually run. Very annoying not going to get optimum good to soft conditions in April though. Softer also enhances Tutti Qanti’s chances.

@greenbeltsal Exactly. It might even be the cover touching the sore parts of his body after being whipped frantically by the jockey. They interpret the behaviour to fit their means.

@ColetteMannion @domdyer70 This is sad to hear. But why are you not making the same amount of noise for the millions of animals killed each year in awful conditions for us to eat? Or the animals getting killed from deforestation or the awful zoo conditions. Racing makes up the tiniest of fractions

@JumpsLeagues @domdyer70 303 of the 317 horses had Irish passports – meaning many were likely to have endured stressful and harrowing transportation from Ireland before drawing their final breath in an abattoir. This echoes the figures for 2024 – where 538 Irish racing horses were slaughtered in England

Gold Dancer died at Aintree on Friday. He was not the first. He will not be the last. The RSPCA confirmed he was the 42nd horse to die in UK racing in 2026. It is only April. Since the year 2000, 68 horses have died at Aintree alone. PETA responded by calling the Grand National Festival the Grand Massacre. Animal Aid said the words that landed hardest: Everyone who bought a ticket, placed a bet or watched the ITV coverage paid for this horse to die. The BHA pointed to a falling fatal injury rate of 0.22 percent in 2025. Animal welfare groups said that number still represents hundreds of horses dying every year for entertainment. Gold Dancer won £67,524. He was dead within minutes of crossing the line. The Grand National ran the following day.
