@asphasichorses @ThomNolan As will everything. 43 deaths in just over 3 months seems to be a very high risk in the name of ‘entertainment’ though. If there were 43 deaths as a result of football, cricket or rugby I would expect the authorities to do something about it

@Luca_CCarr I think if Oisin had switched a few seconds earlier it would’ve smashed them. Ran a great race and will definitely be watching it next time out
English

@asphasichorses Ran a screamer I think the horse to take out of it, has more gears then the jolly who needs further clearly

@BethBryan63 @Tinebobagain @networkrail Notices an issue and immediately dismounts. It’s very sad when a horse dies, but unfortunately they all die eventually, and at least these horses are able to be cared for brilliantly, have a great life and usually a nice long retirement
English

@BethBryan63 @Tinebobagain @networkrail Horse jumped, broke its back on landing, but the adrenaline carried it on, probably didn’t even feel it. Jockey had no way of knowing what happened, just rode it out like anyone else would, you can see once they go over the line and stop running that he (1)

Can we all agree this weekend, that people shouldn’t be breaking the backs of horses for ‘sport’, and that @networkrail should open the swift nests.
Can we agree on this at least?

@WestTip1986 It was a really good watch I thought. Bit chaotic, lots of fallers, but I think the fences being softer these days meant a lot less injuries and best of all no deaths. Wouldn’t mind it ran like this for the next few years
English

@Tinebobagain @networkrail I agree as an animal lover and one who prefers animals to humans.
People who force horses to win races with a broken back and companies who behave like gods.
Are monsters.

@burglahobbit The horse carried on running and showed no signs of injury. Paul Townend is possibly the best jockey of all time and would have pulled him up instantly if he knew there was something wrong, and he dismounted after the race when it became apparent the horse was hurt

I may be called the friend that's too woke for this take, but the jockey lowkey needs jail time for this

The horse Gold Dancer tragically died after winning a race today, breaking his back on the last hurdle and crossing the finish line before collapsing. He died just minutes later. The jockey is now under fire for pushing Gold Dancer far beyond his physical limit.
