@JTAlexander @dogsnfishing That day was literally sleep eat read eat sleep. Its not sustainable. And I'm confident few people can read at the pace I do - it's an unusual gift. Someone who was doing 300 a year would be doing nothing else and not have time for tiktoks

@JTAlexander @dogsnfishing One weekend day with nothing going on I read two books of WoT in about 14 hours. The total page count of those two books is like 1500. If you accept that's probably like 4-5 "typical" 300-350 page books, I could theoretically read 300 books a year. And nothing else.

A funny story about how I accidentally ended my wife’s interest in BookTube. There was this girl she was watching that claimed to read 200-300 books a year. One of the books that came up in her list, somehow, was G.K. Chesterton. In her review, this girl said “It was good, I think, but I just couldn’t understand it.” I told my wife two things: (1) There is not one human that actually reads 300 books a year; and, (2) If anyone could read that much, they’d have no problem understanding Chesterton. I told her I bet that she just constantly had an audiobook on literally all the time playing at 2x speed like background noise. Within a week, my wife showed me a new video of this girl admitting that my prediction was dead accurate.

@DeekUsa @grobconnolly @finlete The idea is that the first $2m has a dramatically greater impact than the final 10% of your income. Tatis himself says he used the money on better training and nutrition, etc For others it's about supporting a family and not needing an off-season job, etc

@DeekUsa @grobconnolly @finlete They don't owe anything. BLA is like venture capital: they only owe from MLB earnings, anyone who doesn't make it just gets the money That's also why Tatis is important: he pays for countless guys who don't make it

With the Fernando Tatis Jr. / Big League Advance story dominating headlines, here’s what people are missing: When we building @Finlete, Eury Perez was viewed as a can’t-miss prospect — the next Randy Johnson. We explored investing in his career for ~$2M. Scouts, the industry, and the data all loved him. And Eury is still incredibly talented. But that’s the point: even elite prospects are never guarantees. Injuries happen. Development isn’t linear. Careers change overnight. People focus on Tatis because he became a superstar. But for every Tatis, there are countless players who never reach arbitration, never sign a massive contract, or never make the majors at all. That uncertainty is why this asset class exists. If a player never earns meaningful income: • The athlete owes nothing • The investor loses Without upside, this type of capital likely disappears — and many athletes lose access to funding during the most uncertain years of their careers.

#FernandoTatisJr

@OfficialJaylol @Shyvadi0 Reminds me of the challenger whining the other day about his 5 masters vs 3 masters, a d3 and himself the challenger yesterday. The matchmaker thinks you're as far ahead of your Master opponent as your D3 teammate is behind theirs. That's a reasonable match!

Lets ignore the fact that I peak higher every season and have been constantly within gm lp this season and the end of last year in 2025. I guess after a hard reset and a net 20 wins against some of the best players in soloq I must be inflated, you're absolutely right. By this logic every single challenger player Ive beaten this season must be washed right?

@DWincheste55011 @JonesMarkLB @RonFilipkowski Other congressmen objected to the language of the equal protection clause because it could be construed to convey equal rights to women and others as well and they said yeah that's fine and passed it anyway.

@DWincheste55011 @JonesMarkLB @RonFilipkowski Anyway it would probably be useful if people on the right understood that the Radical Republicans of the 1860s and 1870s who wrote the 14th amendment would be to the left of Joe Biden on many modern political issues and that the extreme breadth of what they wrote was debated then

Trump reiterated this morning on Meet the Press that he intends to end birthright citizenship. When told the 14th Amendment says all persons born in the US are citizens, he said, “Well, we’re going to have it changed. We have to end it.”

@sportingnews I once saw a kid make an amazing chase down block LeBron style and get a tech because his hand hit the backboard after deflecting the ball It's a very stupid rule

@sportingnews This was an automatic technical foul by rule in my high school league and it was always very stupid because no one ever did it on purpose, but if you clipped the backboard on a block or rebound you were giving them 2 shots and the ball

@Metalligamer666 Sorry I was slow back to this, but part of how Tales games have always worked is that resources tend to be fairly plentiful overall but the item limit caps make it so that you are in fact at risk of running out in difficult fights. So its kind of expected to feel this way.

@Metalligamer666 It takes a little getting used to but once you get the combat flow it becomes a lot easier I felt thar way during the early section before you have a range of characters/abilities and so it's hard to get the correct breaks etc going.
