BREAKING: Center fielder Pete Crow-Armstrong and the Chicago Cubs are finalizing a long-term contract extension, sources tell ESPN. Crow-Armstrong, coming off a 30-30 season and a Gold Glove, will get a big payday as the Cubs lock up a franchise-caliber talent.

🆕 @NYDNSports: Months before Carlos Lagrange's jaw-dropping spring, the #Yankees phenom joined Finlete. The company lets fans purchase shares of a player's potential future earnings like a stock. Here's a detailed look at how Finlete works, why Lagrange wanted to do this, what he's gotten out of it, and why the flame-thrower isn't worried about the potential pitfalls of fans investing in athletes: nydailynews.com/2026/03/22/thi…

@kanylaw1 @jenramose @GaryHPhillips We put all offering details on the athletes offering page. If fans decide they agree to the terms and the deal makes sense to them, they can choose to invest. That’s Finlete, happy to answer any follow up questions.

very important story, esp since, if you look at the Finlete website, it appears that there are a LOT of Latin American players. from my own reporting in MiLB, a lot of LatAm players send money home to their families because USD is stronger currency. something to note.

After getting just a $10,000 signing bonus from the #Yankees, Carlos Lagrange has received $169,403 through fan investments on Finlete. He's used that money to take care of his family & on his training. If Lagrange makes the majors and, therefore, a big league salary, he will be responsible for paying investors back a small portion of his future earnings, as well as a management fee to Finlete. If he doesn't make the majors, he owes nothing. Much more @NYDNSports on Lagrange's fascinating arrangement: nydailynews.com/2026/03/22/thi…

Curious: did any of my followers invest in Carlos Lagrange or any other Finlete athletes? If so, what went into the decision? #Yankees

@davidrsoffer @GaryHPhillips @NYDNSports We focus on top prospects with real MLB upside. Players come to us — never the other way around. And you're right on minor league pay — we're a bridge, not a fix. Both problems are real.

@GaryHPhillips @NYDNSports Really interesting read. Thanks for writing about this. I’d be curious how Finlete decides who to approach and how other minor leaguers feel about this concept. Of course, the bottom line remains that as MLB fights a salary cap, no one fights to pay minor leaguers a decent salary

I didn't have space for it in the story, but Finlete uses an algorithm to determine what terms, including the share evaluation, would be for a player. The algo scrapes sites for metrics, prospect rankings, etc. If the player and his reps feel the terms are fair, the 2 sides move forward.

@peterp2000 @GaryHPhillips It’s not a loan. There is no interest rates. If he gets hurt tomorrow and never plays again, he owes nothing.
