Following Sporting Lagos promotion into next season’s NPFL, the Lagos based side will be looking to make a shortlist of targets to bolster their squad ahead of next season’s football. One name that ticks a lot of boxes is HAKEEM ONITOLO. Although an unproven grassroot player, he is believed to have what it takes to compete at the highest level when given chance and time to integrate. Hakeem Onitolo has since rising to internet fame has become the most talked about grassroot footballer on the Nigerian internet space. He has created so much awareness about himself which has transformed his image value into a bigger and valuable asset. He has signed ambassadorial deals with brands in the past due to his online popularity. Signing Hakeem Onitolo would be a good move by sporting Lagos ahead of next season. Asides from the on-pitch footballing value he will add to the team, he’ll also add marketing and branding value to the heavily commercial sporting Lagos. His addition into the team would help boost the squad value, boost commercial merchandise and consequently add to the ever attractive grass to grace story of football. I think this is a venture worth pursuing by Sporting Lagos or any other commercial club in the Nigerian league.
