@furan Instead of just complaining about RAM costs, you're *actually* doing something about it 😆

@needle Do you remember the name of the hotel? I never heard about this and would love to see if it still exists.

サンフランシスコのホテルのレストランで、座席の装飾として磁気コアメモリが備え付けられてたのを見た事がある。磁石1個が1ビットのはずで、こんなものがあったんだなあと感心した覚え。

@chrisprice @dosdude1 Circa then, a Motorola engineer told me it would take ~2 weeks of sw work to run NT on their unreleased StarMax CHRP box (the remnants of which I still have, the sad victim of a leaky battery 🙁)

@dosdude1 Even more amazing: That’s a Lombard. A Mac at least two generations newer than when NT4 dropped PReP. Guessing they did it with CHRP because CHRP is a superset of PReP. But the amount of work this took… it’s hard to describe. I’m just starting to look at the code. Amazed.

Well, here’s something I never thought I’d see... Windows NT 4.0 PPC running natively on a PowerPC Mac! It’s in very early stages at this point, so hardware support is very limited and it is buggy, but it works! Be sure to check out this amazing project! github.com/Wack0/maciNTosh

Hey @chipsalliance1, I noticed that all the SweRV RISC-V cores were all recently renamed to VeeR. Do you know what's up with that?

Any ideas what this could be? Soldered under the keyboard on the SOL-20. Chip is MM74C14N. Some of the wires came off the keyboard PCB.

@_tessr @court3r Here's a piece of the original edifice from the Palace of Fine Arts in SF. By the 70s, there were still piles of rubble around the back of the adjacent building where this chunk was retrieved from. The consistency resembles sandstone.

it is actually just so wild that these buildings used to exist in San Francisco the Palace of Fine Arts is just the tiniest taste of what's left from the 1915 expo

My last work day at DESY was last Thursday, today a DESY-branded pen stops working. Is there a Kerberos client hidden somewhere inside? 😀

Just spotted a thing on ebay I've been on the lookout for since I started Youtube. Can anyone guess what it is. Clue 1 : most people will have seen one in use. Clue 2 : contains a radioactive isotope. Clue 3 : it's bad news if it does what it's designed to do
