Let's get things straight. Foot soldiers desecrating the bodies of other foot soldiers is repugnant and deserves to be condemned. It's also nowhere near as morally repugnant as those at the highest level of command authorising attacks against densely populated civilian targets.

Afghanistan is crushing Pakistan in the social media war. Videos and photos pouring out of Kunar, Nangarhar, and other border regions show Taliban fighters openly humiliating Pakistani soldiers. It's difficult to rationalise exactly what Pakistan's aims are in reportedly bombing densely populated Afghan urban centres, beyond attempting to inflict maximum casualties. Pakistan's military junta has climbed to heights that even the US, during its 20 year occupation, did not.
