One of my biggest fears is throwing a party and no one showing up Stems from childhood, I had a summer birthday and most kids went to camp or traveled somewhere but we tried to do a pool party at my house and it was really cold that day, no sun, water was too cold to swim, and only 3 kids showed up I don’t get anxiety over pretty much anything, other than this Years ago I was in Norway for the Norwegian Poker Championships and was asked to do an 11am Q & A for a crowd of people before the tournament I head down to the room, it’s giant, and there was… no one there I was embarrassed and mortified. This sort of thing is my worst nightmare One of the hosts found me and said “right this way” and I was confused but followed him into another large room that was…. PACKED with people sitting and waiting for me! All the seats were filled, over 1000 people came to hear what I had to say and it just felt so damn good in that moment, going from “Oh My God, no one showed up” to that Thank you Norway! I think this irrational fear will stick with me for life and I can manage, but it seeps into other areas too I’ve been asked to sell products with my name on it, or other such things and I have always felt uncomfortable with that- what if no one likes it? What if they don’t sell? That kind of failure, that in some cases is out of my control, is tough for me to deal with and I’ve probably turned down some offers that may have worked out in the past This summer during the VLOG I am going to tackle that fear I know the root cause, a self worth conversation, but it’s still something I struggle with Anyone else deal with this kind of fear?
