@EmpireEnjoyer3 I hope Reid retires after this. Would kill for Koch and Glover to be on the first landing

My ideal Artemis 4 crew (first moon landing since 1972). - Reid Wiseman (White man), Artemis 2 veteran as Commander. Navy F14 and F18 pilot. - Victor Glover (he’s unapologetically Christian), also Artemis 2 and first Black man on the moon. - Zena Cardman (she’s hot), also first woman on the moon. Antarctica expedition veteran. - Japanese astronaut Yui Kimiya (Japan is a great American ally), also he’s a F15 pilot in the JSDF and veteran of the International Space Station Program.

We see our home planet as a whole, lit up in spectacular blues and browns. A green aurora even lights up the atmosphere. That's us, together, watching as our astronauts make their journey to the Moon.

@astro_anil @johnkrausphotos Love that! Thanks for the response. I feel like 38s were definitely more ‘important’ during the shuttle era when the spacecraft had more airplane like characteristics but the CRM aspect of it has to be one of the most important use cases!

@JustSeanC @johnkrausphotos It varies — could be a cross-country, instrument approaches, or just pattern work. Great way to practice decision-making, crew coordination, and staying sharp under dynamic conditions. One of the best parts of the week.

People ask me all the time what astronaut training actually looks like day to day. So here's a sample week. Every week is different — some weeks are heavy on sims, others on EVA prep or vehicle training. But this gives you a feel for the range: spacewalk practice, emergency scenarios, robotic arm ops, medical codes, jet flying, even Russian language. No two days are the same. And that's what makes this job incredible.

Deanna Evans, 46, passed away Tuesday after a lengthy battle w/ cancer. She leaves a son, 12. She wouldn’t want you to be sad. She’d want you to try that Michelin restaurant & order a Negroni. I loved her. She deserved more life & has taken most of my heart with her.

I’m not usually a collector but I’ve been keeping a running collection of all the Crew Dragon mission pins thanks to @LaunchPins These live in my classroom, I reference them at the beginning of the school year and talk about space with my students any chance I get.

@DJSnM Issues aside, the accident itself sounds like it was preventable. The aircraft sounds like it was still under positive control and there was nothing but pilot error that would have caused the actual crash

Reading through this and it's leaving me with more questions, it looks like there were electrical and instrument problems. The person flying was the most experienced, his son was in the right seat and Greg was in the back and some of his comments were recorded. There was no obvious engine problem, nothing that would have robbed them of power during final approach. The pilot was flying visually and appears to have descended into terrain.

NASA Administrator Jared Isaacman
I had the pleasure of visiting Mission Control at Johnson Space Center during the Crew-11 reentry and splashdown operation. The flight controllers, alongside the rest of the NASA team and our partners, represent the most accomplished space agency in the world. When exploring the unknown, we prepare for the unexpected and the teams executed professionally. We can bring our astronauts home at virtually any time and pull forward the next mission as necessary. We will always debrief and capture lessons learned, but I am incredibly proud of the team. This is 'tough and competent'. This is NASA at its finest. Next up: Crew-12 and Artemis II.
