I think autistic people are often mistaken for being argumentative and needing to be right, when in reality, it's more about needing the information to be CORRECT... because we get overwhelming anxiety when we're convinced that it isn't.

@GlennHampson @auspost We used to have the same issue. Luckily, we have cameras, so they couldn't lie and say "They knocked, you just mustn't have heard them." Thankfully, our postie now is fantastic and waits a little after pressing the doorbell.

@PaulaVSimon1 @ifonlyalabama @1goodtern I have fibro, hEDS, and a few other things, yet I can still do pole dancing in 7 inch heels. Just because you can't doesn't mean no one can. Also, she has the money to pay for medical help that most can only dream of. I'm sure if we all had that access, we'd be doing more, too.

Can we stop assuming that every person not wearing a mask is doing so because they don't care/know the risks? I tried wearing a mask. I've spent hundreds on different types. It was only when I ended up in hospital with Covid that I discovered they drop my oxygen levels hugely.

My debilitating fatigue from having multiple chronic illnesses is not the same thing as a regular person’s tired. It is unrelenting and not fixed by anything.

I think sometimes people forget that my chronic illness is literally attached to me. I can’t leave it behind for a vacation or the weekend. It doesn’t care if there’s a special event/plans. It is always there whether I like it or not & that is so exhausting. People don’t get it.

shoutout to all the girlies who spent their whole life being told that their inability to keep on top of basic hygiene tasks was because they were “severely depressed” but it was actually undiagnosed autism and adhd making executive functioning impossible

2/3 primary schools CLOSED THEIR LIBRARIES because of how much time I spent in there! They were "encouraging" me to "interact with other students" but I just found other places to read and borrowed more books, more often.
Emily♡@ItsEmilyKaty

How did people look at child me, who devoured two novels a day by age eight, read all of the time instead of socialising, and talked non-stop about books, and think ‘she’s neurotypical’? Oh yeah, because my special interest was books and not something stereotypically autistic.

@Uber_Support who provides the maps in your app? Street names are VERY wrong, leading to issues with giving directions. Your "help" section has nowhere to address this.

@GiuspTula @theheraldsun Because let's force women who aren't ready to have children, have health issues, or a pregnancy that is going to harm them or the foetus, to continue a pregnancy because AbOrTiOn Is MuRdEr. 🙄

Skills we should start learning in childhood: 1. How to be ok with disappointment. 2. How to be with someone who is crying or upset without try to fix it. 3. How to say “no, I’m not interested” or “don’t do that” without over-explaining or apologizing. 4. How to show genuine curiosity and interest in others. 5. How to live your life based on what’s aligned with your values and gifts— not the approval of others. 6. How to be resilient after heartbreak, rejection, and suffering. 7. How to be kind to yourself after making mistakes (the bigger, the more kind). 8. How to rest and take breaks guilt free.

Yep. And given the threat anti-vaxxers pose to others, they should have to be easily identifiable to anyone, anywhere, at any time. This is 100% a hill I'm willing to die on.

@davorbn @sandylanceley @9NewsMelb '“We found zero evidence of any kind of protective effects” from living in a home with a handgun...' Statistics trump ignorant opinion, and a 0% protective effect speaks pretty freaking loudly.

@Theholisticpsyc Same with, "You're not leaving the table until you finish everything on your plate" This simple saying was probably responsible for several generations of eating disorders.

Want to have a better relationship, with anyone? Learn to listen. If you feel defensive or want to interrupt, just breathe. Work on regulating your emotions. This is how you build trust. When someone goes to you and they're met with openness and curiosity, the relationship grows stronger. When someone goes to you and they're invalidated or dismissed, the relationships grows apart. Every response you have to another person either builds connection, or breaks it. Choose wisely.
