@TSNDaveNaylor And the more revenue brought in and the more teams in the playoffs makes it much more attractive for expansion.

Here’s my take on the new CFL playoff format: Do I think the league is convinced that overall this is an improvement? No I’m not. But I’m not ignorant to the fact that going from 5 to 9 playoff games is a major financial boost at a time the league is negotiating new media deals. Everyone wants a healthy CFL. So if this is what it takes i’ll live it. Even if I don’t love it. #CFL

@SteveBunda91 It doesn’t ruin the look of the league. Every league of every sport has a race for playoff positioning and the regular season matters. This format allows for more revenue for all, which needs to happen for expansion to be realistic. This was a necessary step.

I thought the CFL did a good job with the rule changes they announced last year. This new playoff format is awful and ruins the look of the league. Why play the regular season? I need someone to give me an explanation to how this is better than the current format.

@jeffkhamilton I also think it will make for better competition. So often this league has a weak division which leads to no drama down the stretch. The drive for playoff seeding might be more fun to watch.

@jeffkhamilton Of all the CFL changes, I like this one the most. It is to drive revenue, for sure, and I think that’s a good thing. That’s what the league needs most to entice expansion.

@CFL Hey @CFL, how do you decide which side of the bracket the 5 v 8 and 6 v 7 games go to? I assume 5 v 8 is not always in the east side and 6 v 7 is not always in the west side, right?

@JColeMarBio @HeatherThomasAF @maddenifico K is right. 1/3 of Americans would vote in the next Trump rigjt away and congress and the snare have been deadlocked in getting anything done for years. There’s no foreseeable end to the polarization and therefore no stability. The world is not rushing back.

@ScottGolimowski @maddenifico So look up the reason why!! It’s energy imports that you guys need because you don’t have the resources. Without that you would have a surplus. That’s not theft. And if you don’t like that then blame Trump. He made the deal.

Listen Americans and Canadians have much in common, I think the bigger issue isn’t that it’s a Republican administration it’s that the sitting president says often insulting things about Canadians and has implemented a number of economic coercion policies in place that cause hostility where there doesn’t need to be.

@DaytonDavis @thedailybeast I believe we actually have very little in common. Here in 🇨🇦, we welcome newcomers. We don’t elect criminals as head of state. We think responsibly about gun control. We acknowledge the horrors of our colonialism and are working to reconcile. We are humble in our patriotism. 1/2

@204knowledge @ScottBilleck That's exactly how I feel about it and I'm sane. I am willing to accept that in that moment of celebration, they didn't realize they were being used as political pawns, but without them acknowledging that, that feeling won't change. And yes, I would say this in person.

@ScottBilleck I haven’t heard 1 sane Winnipegger complain about this in person. You have tons of bad takes Scott, but this has got to be one of your worst. You can talk a big game on X but in an alternate universe where you were an Olympian there is no way you would have acted any different.

@KimMcCu76524838 I am. Anyone who says leave politics out of it is, unfortunately, being victimized by politicians. But its not only political, it's also hockey culture. The misogyny in Hockey Canada's past is also upsetting me. Its not just Helle or Team USA.

@AllyD1776 @factpostnews What Americans need to realize is that Trump’s bullying has showed the world that another way is possible and in the end more opportunistic. I’m Canadian. We have far more value in the long run by diversifying our economy. The status quo was easy. But the new way is better.

Sen. Kelly: The old world is gone because Donald Trump blew it up. We had this system of alliances that has served us since World War II. Even if we are able to repair these relationships, it's going to take generations before they feel comfortable.

@Amy_Siskind While I admire your conviction for change in the midterms, Trump is only the symptom of the problem. The problem is the over 70 million who voted for him.

Maybe it’s not Bad Bunny Maybe it’s not Hunter Hess Maybe it’s not all the other Olympic athletes Maybe it’s not the crowd booing Vance Maybe it’s not the 60%+ who disapprove of Trump, his handling of the economy, immigration, etc. Maybe it’s that the country is sick and tired of this heartless, cruel, corrupt, incompetent, self-serving, dishonest, hypocritical, undemocratic, unAmerican, shameful regime. Expect us at midterms.

@Amy_Siskind Maybe you shouldn’t have voted him in again. Maybe you shouldn’t have taken your liberty for granted. Maybe you should’ve realized that Trump only a symptom of the real problem, which is America’s false sense of entitlement and lack of knowledge about anything outside its border

@Chunnerstahlway It was a charge and I’m a Jets fan. He should’ve been suspended because it was a dangerous hit. I still believe 4 games was too much because Evans also needs to protect himself. He never looked up. Head down, not reading the opposition. Goal woudn’t have changed the outcome.

@davidfrum America exceptionalism = myth. It has never been true. There have been moments of exceptional accomplishments, sure, but American exceptionalism is a receipe for failure in that it teaches citizens to ignore what’s around them and live in an entitled state of mind.

The three NHL rules that are flat-out terrible. The worst. 1. The offside video review to protest goals 2. Delay of game penalty for puck over glass 3. Auto penalty because a guy's stick snaps in a battle

@JasonGregor @vanceinla It looked to me as though they were coached to flip the puck out of the zone when pressured instead of adapting to it. That led to alot of Czechia's zone time and allowed them to dictate play too much. Posts, peanlty shots. It's not either or.

@vanceinla why? They coached them to hit five posts and miss a penalty shot. It happens. Good game. We lost. It happens in a one-game-winner-take-all.

Forwards: Macklin Celebrini Beckett Sennecke Berkly Catton Ben Kindel Defencemen: Matthew Schaefer Sam Dickinson Players who were eligible to play for Canada at WJC but are currently in the NHL. Claims the Canadian system is broken due to one loss to Czechia. Overblown. You can dislike things about the state of minor hockey... Cost, pressure on young kids, academies, year-round hockey etc, but the country still develops many good players, in fact it is so good six of them are in the NHL as teenagers and playing well. No system is perfect, and having rational discussions about minor hockey would be great, but trying to use a loss in a game, which was a great game, which was a one-game-winner-take-all as a basis that the Canadian system is broken is a major reach. Also, it illustrates a bit of arrogance in thinking Canada has to win every major tourney or the system is broken.
