@PirateSoftware I agree with your take. I think this game is an also victim of getting too much hype. People were talking like this was going to be a generational game. It’s simply not. It was billed as a 9-10/10 game of the year potential. That was not delivered
Done with Crimson Desert for the time being until some updates go through.
I really enjoyed the overall world setting and how much reward there was for exploring. Tons of secret areas and little bonuses all over the place. It really does feel great to find little caves hidden in rock walls or a chest with some wild item in a basement hidden in a hut.
Bosses feel a bit weird where I was just bursting damage, getting smacked, then eating food mid-battle Skyrim Wheel of Cheese style. On some encounters full-screen tutorials popped up in the middle of the fight that really broke the flow of the game. I ended up beating Matthias, Hornsplitter, Reed Devil, Tenebrum, Kearush, and Excavatron.
The controls directly led to me putting the game down for now. Multiple actions on the same input on controller make it feel like a rage game at times. For instance on the left joystick alone you have movement, crouch, and hook shot. This means if you accidentally press too hard in the middle of intense combat you hook-shot worthlessly into the ground. There doesn't seem to be a need for this at all. Really hoping they add native controller remapping so this isn't an issue anymore.
The story felt weird as hell to me at first but then it clicked about 10 hours in. I approached this game as an Open World RPG but it feels more akin to an Open World Exploration game like No Mans Sky. When I made that connection my objectives and interactions felt like they made a ton more sense and the game felt better overall. I think this is more an issue of perception than it is anything wrong with the game.
For the price I would say that no game is worth $70 regardless of how amazing or prestigious it is. Games need to be affordable and with the amount of economic turmoil right now prices in excess of $60 USD don't make a lot of sense. This directly prices out many people in countries like Australia, Brazil, Poland, New Zealand, and Canada at the same time due to currency conversion rates. Most of my viewers were saying they refuse to buy it until it's on sale as a result.
Overall I think the game is enjoyable and has a ton of potential. Little rough around the edges right now but nothing that can't be fixed with time and feedback. Regardless of how I feel I hope you are enjoying the game and it continues to improve with time.
Found this cool helmet in Crimson Desert I havent seen anyone post about. When you get hit and press dodge it creates a geyser that fucks people up.
And its stylish 😂
I want to take a second and talk about a very important topic - in game credits.
Games take a TON of people to make, and each roles adds something unique to the final product. For Crimson Desert, we equally credited everyone at the company, knowing everyone's work mattered.

I’ve spent way too much time in Crimson Desert robbing houses for food
I have over a hundred cooked foods at this point, I don’t think I am ever running out of heals in combat again😭
@idonotexistelol You will be forced to use her for a whole act later, put some gear on her atleast. Same for oongka
You can make do without putting skills on her but gear kinda necessary
Been debating sharing this, but a warning for Crimson Desert players.
You are forced to use both Oongka and Damiane toward the end of the story. Not a lot, but you will need to take down a boss with each.
Not as hard as some of the other bosses, but best to prepare.
Some Crimson Desert players are puzzled by design choices like an endgame dragon with a 15 minute real-time time limit, and a 50 minute real-time cooldown that's impossible to speed up. bit.ly/4st7V9Z
@unknownkid77rb It's never explained. Why would the "Environment" tab on a map be useful? 😆
Right there with you man, I didn't notice it for quite some time either
The BEST mining spot I've found in all of Crimson Desert. This place includes:
4x Garnet
3x Copper
2x Azurite
3x Scolecite
3x Epidote
And more...
The biggest concentration of ores I've seen in one location so far.
Honestly terrified to even say what I just realized I should have been doing at hour 135 of Crimson Desert
may my embarrassment be your gain
when you complete sealed abyss challenges you aren't automatically getting things, you have to go and manually open each glowing one....
Crimson Desert developer and publisher Pearl Abyss won’t show gameplay footage of the Xbox Series X and S version ahead of its March 19 release date. bit.ly/4sfkl5h
