@oggoh4 @PacingJouska I wasn't trying to be rude or thought you were either - in any way. But the question is only interesting if every button-presser is sentient. Bringing mindless infants into it destroys the experiment. E.g. if ½ the participants were animals, the fundamental question changes.

@Devon_Eriksen_ The problem is that if say a large minority take the pill and then die, society breaks down (it's a fragile thing) which then endangers everyone who didn't take the pill. The best outcome of course is that nobody takes the pill, but apparently that won't happen.

Game theory is not being used to determine which choice is popular, but which choice is winning. The red button runs 0 risk of anything bad happening to you, and 0 risk to anyone else unless they willingly inflict risk upon themselves for no gain. Everyone who pressed red won

Blue is the obvious choice because even if you vote red and it’s supposed to be private, people will still grill you afterward and throw you out the airlock if you voted red. You can see the implicit threat of violence in the quote tweets. That solves the coordination problem!
