Tom Brady was never looking at his watch to tell him when to come out of the tunnel for kick offs. Clayton Kershaw was never looking at a clock for when first pitch is. Yes being on time is the most important thing in life. Don’t disagree. His caddie didn’t have him on the tee box early enough, dudes not wearing a watch in what I’ve seen. You can blame the player, I’m blaming the caddie. If you were in Higgos shoes you’d be firing your caddie too. You wouldn’t fire yourself.

@Jwright47 @NUCLRGOLF You are so far out of touch with reality. The being late isn’t on Austin. Austin was on the tee box, yelling at Higgo to come to tee.

@WallStreetApes Sounds like dude needs to order straight from the pool noodle manufacturer to get a bulk deal. But let’s blame an algorithm.

165 pool noodles were ordered from Walmart in Dayton, Ohio. They were all delivered in separate boxes You don’t understand how ridiculously wasteful this is until you see the boxes next to the pool noodles To make this right Walmart offered a $50 gift card for the inconvenience Walmart’s automated packing and shipping system treated each noodle as a separate line item, defaulting to individual boxing based on algorithms for size, weight, and protection. Packers didn’t override it for bulk efficiency The crazy part is I looked this up and found it likely cost Walmart $800–$2,500+ in total shipping costs for the 165 individual boxes Walmart definitely lost money on fulfillment

Strange occurrence in Blacksburg. Clemson had a guy slide into home and score, but in the process the turf batter’s box got completely flipped over. 😳

@CollegeBSBNews That’d never happen if we were a proper country and didn’t use ugly artificial turf instead of beautiful dirt and grass. Ban artificial turf on all outside playing surfaces.

@RepRoKhanna It should be illegal for elected officials to lie and tell false truths to the American people. But the first amendment allows things like lying. Like what you’re doing here Ro.

I guess construction, servicing the equipment, data center jobs don’t bring quality of living standards up? You don’t think companies and the employees that build all the equipment that make a data center are not receiving an increased living standard? Data centers are not office jobs, it takes manual labor and computer smarts to build, run and operate data centers.

apparently the tech that will replace all jobs and humans is now beneficial to society because it brings "billions to local economies" yet not a single person has a seen a rise in quality of living standards since these monstrosities started being constructed besides AI investors
Garry Tan@garrytan

Sanders and AOC introduced a bill to pause ALL AI data center construction. 300+ local bills filed. Half of planned 2026 data centers facing delays or cancellation. Each one brings billions to local economies. The people who say they want American jobs are trying to block the biggest job creation engine since the interstate highway system.

The biggest questions all communities should ask when worrying about a data center is 1 simple question. If it’s strictly a closed loop system using chillers then you’re an idiot to reject it, but if it’s an open loop system and uses evaporation then you have a right to be concerned. It’d be irresponsible of everyone to flat out say no to a DC without knowing the technology the DC is designed to operate under. Also a lot of that water is returned to the city and returned to the atmosphere through evaporation. The water just doesn’t stay in the data center on an open loop system. Sure some stays there in the DC but not 3 million gallons a day.

This is what local accountability looks like: In Festus, Missouri, a town of about 14,000 people, the city council quietly approved a $6 billion Ai data center to be built on 360 acres just north of Highway 67. Residents say they were never properly heard. Meetings were held in private. Documents were released too late. A week after the approval, the town held a regular election. Voter turnout jumped 129 percent. Every single council member who had voted yes lost in a landslide. A 70-year-old first-time candidate beat an 8-year incumbent by 40 percentage points. Now a recall petition is circulating to remove the mayor as well. The lawsuit against the city is already filed. Has your local government ever been held accountable like this? 🔥

Data centers' cooling fans, HVAC, and generators typically produce 55-85 dBA near the source (sometimes spiking higher inside at 92-96 dBA). At residential distances like one block away, levels often drop significantly and are regulated to 50-60 dBA or below in many areas to limit disturbance—though low-frequency hum can travel farther and prompt complaints. Without the exact facility name or specs, no precise rating available. Regulations and mitigation (like shrouds) vary by site.

@a51s1 @Gamingtronium @beffjezos The response to that is serviceability of the infrastructure and the servers and switches themselves. Redundancy would be highly important to offset the latency.

@Gamingtronium Because according to @beffjezos there's a thermal output threshold we could hit if overbuild in this little hydrocarbon system, trapping so much heat the things can't cool down. Which is totally possible. So putting it up into space is more logical. Orbital, moon based. Etc.
