On #WorldEarthDay, we want you to know this! Of Gauhati University’s 500-acre campus, around 19% is natural forest, while nearly 16% is covered by wetlands. And that’s a huge number for a University. This balance did not happen overnight. It has been years of consistent and collective effort since inception to build a green, sustainable campus. Public Notice: Baseless Allegations Against Gauhati University Gauhati University strongly refutes, and condemns, the malicious and frivolous allegations recently circulated on social media and a section of media. The content of such posts and stories is baseless, derogatory to the institution, and clearly aimed at tarnishing the reputation of the Vice-Chancellor and the University. All activities of the University are conducted strictly in accordance with the rules and regulations of Gauhati University and the Government of Assam. The University is initiating appropriate legal action against those responsible for spreading such false and defamatory content.

I still recall the pride Gauhati University felt in 1992, when a young Zubeen Garg won Gold in Western Solo at our Youth Festival. Born in the 1970s, he became an icon in his 20s, and from that stage, he went on to take Assam beyond Assam. Zubeen da carried the soul of our land far and wide. His voice, however, knew no boundaries - from the very popular "Ya Ali" in Hindi to beloved songs in Assamese, Bengali, and even verses in Telugu "Pokhi Pokhi Bidekhi", Odia "Moli Fulow Kaharo", and Bhojpuri "Jabse Sayan Bhailu". In 33 years, he recorded over 38,000 songs across 40 languages, yet his heart beat for Assam. Today, we at Gauhati University don’t just mourn a legend - we remember one of our own. He showed every young dreamer that you can begin on a simple stage, and carry the spirit of your home to the world. You will inspire generations, Zubeen da 🙏 #ZubeenGarg #GauhatiUniversity

गुज़रा हुआ जमाना ❤️… On a quiet, lazy afternoon in 2010, our love affair with communications began. We started in a cozy little office, in a narrow lane of the historic Hauz Khas village, whispers away from its iconic tomb, and at a stone’s throw distance from the popular Deer Park. The address was 45-A, Ground Floor, HKV - an adda many fashion designers would envy! Despite the glitz of the bustling Village, our set up was simple ~ four chairs, a 3-legged broken table, peeled off walls, one table fan... What made this modest look bold were resolute big ideas and bigger dreams. A whiteboard full of scribbles, mugs full of chai and hearts full of passion & purpose were our earliest prized possessions! From those humble beginnings, we set out to leave a mark with stories that matter, communication that connects and work that makes a difference. कहानी सुनाने की जैसे लत सी लग गई हमें बितते वक़्त के साथ - or as our Founder Director is fond of saying, we are in the business of storytelling.
