Our world has been spinning out of control right about the time social media platforms started to dominate our lives. They are a main part of the problem (and I am aware of the irony as I make this statement on Twitter).

Before tonight's game we held a moment of silence in memoriam of Charlie Kirk. Kirk founded the youth activist group “Turning Point USA” and had become a fixture on college campuses. Charlie Kirk, a husband and father of two children, was 31 years old.

Our adversaries are doing this. They know that they cannot defeat us economically or militarily. They know that to defeat us, we must fight one another. Do not fall for this. Think. Do not let our adversaries win. Think critically. Ask questions. Debate with words, not with weapons.

Anyone who celebrates the death of anyone is sick. Anyone who celebrates the political assassination of someone who you disagree with politically has a special kind of sickness and they do not believe, nor have they ever believed, in the promise of our democratic experiment.

Why should Harvard or any other college receive any taxpayer money? Explain that to the struggling family trying to make ends meet and have little to no hope of sending their children to any college. Why should they subsidize these schools? Especially when they espouse ideologies counter to that taxpayers' beliefs? Seriously...explain that one.

Harvard has set an example for other higher-ed institutions – rejecting an unlawful and ham-handed attempt to stifle academic freedom, while taking concrete steps to make sure all students at Harvard can benefit from an environment of intellectual inquiry, rigorous debate and mutual respect. Let’s hope other institutions follow suit.
